I have opened a PPF account in 1999 when my daughter was just 9 years old. I kept on depositing small amounts into my account there after till it is matured in 2014. When, I approached the post office for releasing my maturity proceeds, the kind of hurdles the post office has posed me is really miserable. Despite being an IFS officer, and producing power of attorney of my daughter and every thing, they said I have to bring my daughter to the post office as she has become a major.
I met the post master Madanapalle, he asked that my daughter should be brought personally and then he said that we have to open an account for that address proof and so many other formalities. finally they have opened an account, and given an ATM and said that the ATM will be operational after one day.
I made a number of visits to the PO, and finally after waiting near the counter for 4 hours I got my money in a forced SB Account of PO. I dont know why Govt of India, has not thought of easing business in post offices and why only in industries and other wings of the Departments.
I sincerely request not to approach any post office for any banking related issue. YOu will be harassed like any thing.
