Idols”, a phenomenon that has fancied in the west and the fever has now hit the largest democracy of the world. Sony Entertainment Television has presented a show in a very democratic format- A show, which is “For the people, Of the people and By the people.” Clearly moving ahead on the popularity charts amongst all other similar talent hunts; Indian Idol has proved its mark. It’s a good idea for viewers to take a break from the endless “Saas-Bahu” sobbing saga and watch Indian Idol. According to me it’s the most gripping show on Indian television after KBC.

When it all began…………………

The contest was held in different cities of the country. In the initial screening rounds, the show witnessed varied performances. Thousands of aspirant singers crowded at the city centers for auditions. What an overwhelming response!!! Such shows indeed bring forth the talent in our nation. Some of the really talented singers who needed a platform to reach out their voices to the entire nation and a few others who just wanted to try their lucks queued for auditions. Indian Idol is the talent search, which is looking out for a singing sensation. But just being a good singer would satisfy the requirements. There’s a lot more required to be an Indian Idol, the stage presence, X-factor, charisma and the voice to reach out to the audiences.

Perfect Judgment…………………..

The chosen ones to judge the performers are three renowned Bollywood personalities, Farah Khan- the exceptionally talented choreographer, Anu Malik- the melodious music director, and Sonu Nigam- the most popular singer of the nation. The anchors Aman Verma and Mini Mathur add drama and excitement to the show. While hosting the show, both the anchors have done a perfect job of interacting with the contestants and providing them with the required moral support. I personally thought that Anu Malik was a bit harsh with some of the contestants. But Sonu Nigam always spoke sensibly and gave the perfect feedback. Farah Khan seeked for the X-factor effect in every performer, and why not??? The winner had to possess a magnetic personality apart from his singing skills. The judges did a decent accomplished job in choosing the final ten. Now it is left for “janta” (common people) to cast their votes and choose their Indian Idol. And we also have some of the Bollywood celebrities coming raise the spirits of the contestants at the gala rounds.

Breaking the suspense………………

The last four and the of course the very best ‘Rahul Vaidya’, ‘Abhijeet Sawant’, ‘Amit Sana’, and ‘Prajakta Shukre’ have walked a long way in their journey to win the title “Indian Idol”. The ten contestants have shined though and through by giving undoubtedly marvelous performances. The show provided them a platform to showcase their talent. I’m sure the final ten will have carved great career prospects in the diversities of the glamour world, I’ve even heard of a few getting work assignments with some very prestigious people.

Well done!!!

Some of the names, worth remembering are Aditi Paul, Rahul Saxena, Mukesh Pancholi and the unforgettable Ravinder Ravi. Hats off to Ravinder’s brave effort. Inpsite of not acquiring any kind of professional training in music, he managed to back the support of many and make it to the final five. These great voices may be out of the competition, but the fire in their voices will remain to kindle in the hearts of many. The contestants showed a kind gesture by joining hands to collect funds for the Tsunami victims. They also visited a few social organizations, for instance the home for HIV infected children and an other one, which caters to the needs of street children.

We’re all experiencing a nail-biting phase of suspense, as to who’ll be the India’s singing sensation “Indian Idol”. As the show nears its climax, it manages to hook more and more viewers onto. The amount of increasing votes every week will naturally be encouraging every contestant to take effective steps towards the title.

To sum it up “Indian Idol is not about who sings well, but it’s about choosing an IDOL who will make the nation sing.” Let’s pray, that the best one wins!!
