Indian Idol II

The Indian Idol II, started with a bang just like its predecessor Indian Idol I. Many contestants were picked up from the initial auditions and initial round requirements, but as the show heated up and the contestants like N. C. Karunya, Amay, Anuj, Sandeep etc. started getting into the top gear, weaker contestants had to make way for something which they did not have and they felt it in the initial stages of the show, despite being picked up by judges like Anu Malik and Sonu Nigam.

The judges picked contestants and they were there for telling each and every contestant that they are good, bad or ugly. Just that. Nothing more, nothing less. They made foul of millions of people around the world, the people who know the language of the sub-continent, be it India, Pakistan, Bangladesh or the people living in other parts of the world, by just sitting there and doing nothing when people voted non-sense and voted out Amay instead of Anuj or Sandeep in the final stages of the show. I think it would have been a very exciting and huge Grand Finale, had Amay contested with Karunya, because both have great voices and attitude to support their vocals.

The format of the show is extremely powerful but voting in the hands of people is not a good idea. Singing is a very technical issue and you need well balanced and good people with a singing background, who have some training in the field and when technically good people vote, nothing like it.

The show people picked very good judges and everything was perfect until when I heard that people should be voting instead of judges right from the beginning till the end.

That’s why, I was grossly disappointed when I came to know that Sandeep Acharya became the new Indian Idol instead of N. C. Karunya. If voting would have been in the hands of only judges (there should have been more than 10 judges of very sound technical singing/entertainment background), nothing would have happened like Sandeep being made Indian Idol, he would have been kicked out of the contest in the initial stages, had the voting been done by the professionals.

Gone is gone. I think, I have sent my message to people across the globe and they must try and realize that singing is not everyones ball game. And if you still really want to give voting into peoples hands instead of professional judges, this thing will happen again that a great finalist like N. C. Karunya will be robbed off from the crown/glory.

Thanks for reading.
