Shortest World Cup Tour- Naam Bade Darshan Chote

The Indian team showed their love for their Desh ki Dharti indeed. They did not want to waste time. They were anxious - first to get back to the pavilion and then back to India. So, after three games, they are pretty much out of the "World Cup Tournament". One simple question though- Why did they "talk big" and raise hopes of their fellow Indians.

Lets talk about the team - Apparently the Caribbean pitch was taken into consideration and players were selected accordingly. Inspite of that we lost two of the crucial games.

The team -(in no particular order)

(a) Rahul Dravid - The Captain of the ship. -He became the 6th player in history and the 3rd Indian to score 10, 000 runs in ODI cricket. - Selectors forgot -He takes his own sweet time to  go get his runs and is not exactly a risk taker  when necessary and certainly not the best captain.

(b) Sachin Tendulkar - Vice Captain - Well, he is idolized to the hilt and is considered a legend. Mr. Master Blaster - Selectors forgot -He rarely comes through during crunch time.

(c) Virendra Sehwag- Multan Ke Sultan - Jiski Sultanat to Chali gayi - Lekin dosti kaam aagayi. He was  very good with the bat once upon a time. Out of form for quite a while. But, the captain is good friends with him, and insisted that he be a part of the team.

(d) Mahendra Singh Dhoni - The wicket keeper batsman who is more into modelling than playing.

(e) Saurav Ganguly - Highly controversial - to be or not to be a part of the team. Former captain, very experienced has come through for India in the past, wasn't dependable enough this time around.

(f) Robin Uthappa - A hard "hitting" opening batsman who became a "big flop".

(g) Harbajhan Singh - Offspinner - The only spinner who played against both Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. The spinner who hardly got any wickets!

(h) Yuvraj Singh - Supposed to be a great batsman - and the middle order strength - But failed to perform like the rest of the team.

(i) Zaheer Khan - Pace bowler - Just average pace -Tried but wasn't good enough.

(j) Ajit Agarkar - One really wonders why why why oh why was this guy selected? Would Pawar or Kumble have been a better choice?

(k) Munaf Musa Patel - The young boy from the little town of Ikhar in Bahruch - Pace bowler with mediocre performance.

Well, all in all the blame game can continue whose fault was it? Was it the selectors, or the players? Well, One thing is for sure - Its the lack of killer instinct and discipline that contributed to the dismal performance of the team. Too much time spent on the ramp and endorsement of products and little time for practice. As they say Jack of all trades - Master of NONE.
