I had sworn not to write anymore merely to agree or disagree with someone's opinion. However, having read recent reviews on India-general, I cannot but start to write a review of my own. This is my take on the country that is developed. I refuse to accept the fact that we as a nation are any lesser than the developed ones. What we lack is merely the attitude and the patience in the mindsets of the young Indians. The older ones never had a mindset, with all due respect.

I cannot start to discuss how India was 56 years ago. I see no point in doing it too. However it makes good sense to understand where we were 56 years ago, pause for a moment and then come around to 2003, and then look at it from an outsider's point of view. When the British left India, they left us with communal hatred in our minds, anger in our hearts, and remorse in our souls. They left us with leaders like Gandhi and Nehru. They left us with scholars like Radhakrishnan and Rajendra Prasad. They also left us with a railway network that is perhaps still the largest in the world. They left us with a language that was going to be the most accepted language in the world, English. They left us fairly as we were then, wasted and looted. They left us with wounds that time could not heal, they left us with a neighbour we did not have before. They left us with some architectural wonders, though none to match those that already existed. They helped us though to build our own political system, that of a democracy with a constitution and a tricolour. They left us with an identity, INDIA; and Pakistan.

Now, look around to see what we made of that place in just 56 years. Every nation around the world looks to us as the IT superpower. No nation in the world can boast of young minds and young shoulders with a command over English and a fair technological expertise. We have struck to our agriculture and industrial origins related to agriculture and textile and yet have moved on to the newer frontiers of technology, power and industrial growth not related to agriculture. Stop. Dont go comparing your country to other countries. Start again. Compare your country to the country it was in 1947. Now go back to those other countries you were thinking about. Where were they 50 years after they were founded? Anywhere close?

Lets move on. WE are a billion people. It is known to all of us that to support a billion people we need more resources than are needed to support people of other countries. So, the kind of facilities that are available elsewhere in the world are not available to us. Not every home in India is equipped with A/c. Not every Indian eats 3 meals a day. Not every Indian is as educated as you are to understand the difference between right and wrong. Is it his own fault? Perhaps. Perhaps not. Perhaps he is as he is because you are living and Iam too. Perhaps we are meant to be so, brothers, yet we cant all have the same facilities, the same mindsets, the same amount of patience. So, if you have to wait an hour more to pay your telephone bills, dont fret and dont say India has not developed. Obviously, you have to wait longer. There is a larger number to server in lesser space. However, there is one thing that every Indian can do. Find a way out of a mess. So what if he has to pay someone a few extra bucks to get his work done. He is smart. He is corrupt. Can you blame him then? He has the money. He has the power to pay. So he pays. So what is the root of all this? Its back to the numbers. And yet, corruption exists in every society, be it America or England. It is however discrete there unlike in our country. So its not as if its our domain alone. So, once again it might take us longer to eradicate this.

So do you blame the circumstances or do you blame the nation or do you blame the leaders? Stop. Thats the first thing every one of us needs to learn. Stop blaming people. They cant help it any more than you can. Start again. We are all victims of these large numbers. So how and when are we going to find a way out of here? I see that we already are on the way out. Education and knowledge is creating awareness and opening minds. I dont wait so long today to pay my bills. The lines are moving faster. I am getting better service. I am not giving up on my country as yet. A lot of the young minds of India are out in the world, in London, in New York, in the Gulf, in the other affluent parts of the world. They are learning to live a life the way people do in the other parts of the world. That is not getting westernized. Stop. Dont go back to your fundamental roots or your religious notions or your age old customs or whatever. Start again. How many of these people return? Not many have. But, do you think they enjoy living out there, outside their own country, away from the place they were born and bought up in? NO. They will be back. When? When there is a nation that provides them with the facilities that match those elsewhere or somewhere close to that. Do you blame them for anything? Stop. I told you there is no point in blaming anyone.

Let us just face the fact that we are doing very well for ourselves as a nation. We are developing and it has only been 56 years. We are making good progress in all fields. We are not lacking behind any country in these aspects of development. Today, the world looks towards us as the future. Let us all stand, united, unflinching, sticking to our emotional roots, kind and benevolent sides, and let us all respect each other's religion and right to live. Let us grow up. Let us be patient. Let us serve. Let us protect. Let us live to see a day when we will be the leaders of the world. WE are on our way. Are you?

Come home to India where we live. Come home to our world of love, respect, family, tradition, peace and technology. Forget Gandhi. Forget those tales of elephants and snakes. Forget those tiems of the rajahs and the ranis. Those days are long gone. India is a better place to live today than it was earlier and with every passing year, we are making progress. It is my kind request to all those minds that can read these lines to pass it on, pass the spirit on, stop blamin people, start working, and start supporting the nation instead of maligning it. Dont cripple it. Support it. Let us all pray that there shall be a day when we shall truly sing of our lands with those songs from ''sare jahan se acha'' to ''where the mind is without fear'' that we have grown up listening to. To every Indian that is still alive. With love and respect.

To every non-Indian who has never visited India, come home to us. You will find a world of love... you will not be disappointed. India has everything any other nation can offer. At a lesser price too... now that is another story altogether.... lets not go there...:)
