Maestro Genius.... Review on Illayaraja

In later 1970s two brothers were introduced in Tamil Film Industry( in Music) by one the leading Male singers of India. Those two brothers are Ilayaraja and Gangai Amaran and the person who introduced is none other than SPB. The first movie in which he (Ilayaraja) composed music won the National Award for best music. From then on there was not looking back for him. He is an Amazing Genius, even though the adjective may sound redundant. He is the Emperor of Melody. Every song of his' is Unique. They cannot be compared. He is one of the best composers till now. He is like God of Film Music. He is very fast in composing music. Everyday, it is heard, that he medidates for 30 minutes in the studio and writes notes instantaneously. That notes will be for the whole day of recording. Besides, holding the finesse for composing, he is something great in the Back Ground Music (BGM). In all his movies, the BGM will be the apt for those situations and nothing can be better than that. One of his Favourite instruments in Violin. Anybody who has watched the Movie Rajini, Mammotty Starrer ''Dhalapathi'' would realise this in the first ''Rakkamma........'' song. I think he has used few hundreds of violins in the opening of the song. All his songs in late 70's and whole of 80's are amazing. Every Song is a gem. He never bothered about the star, banner or director involved in the film. He composes song for the situations only. Even some flop movies have great songs of his. Interesting Fact : In late 2002 BBC UK Conducted a poll for the best song ever. ''Rakkamma...'' from Thalapathi was ranked first with more than 50% of the votes and second came song of Beatles. He has performed in the London Philharmonic Society. Everybody who is performing symphony will be given some 6 months time to compose. He was also given the same time, but, he completed the composition in just two months. Such is his greatness in music. Anybody, who has the oppurtunity to listen to his music, please do listen. Karthink Raja, Yuvan Shankar Raja and Bhavadharini. All these guys are doing a great job and especially, Yuvan is somebody close to his Dad. He is also a genius and he first composed music for a film in 1991/1992 at the age of 16/17 (I am not sure). He is coming up like his dad. He is also a born genius.
