IGNOU is Indira Gandhi National Open University. It is a university which provides distance education. It was established in 1985.It offers many UG( under graduate) & PG ( post- graduation) programs thorugh distance learning.There are various programs ranging from degree courses to diploma courses at UG or PG levels like BCA.MCA , BCOM, BED, MED, BSW, MSW, PGDIPR, PGDET, MBA, PhD etc are offered by IGNOU.I have also done a PG diploma programme from IGNOU.Here I will share my experience of program , University with all.
Things which I dont like about IGNOU is
Lack of communication of University with students especially the problem they dont pick phones, all helpline numbers are either they dont pick or put on hold.Also they dont bother to give proper information on phone.Even for small issues they say go main University campus & dont solve them on phone.
Here recently before my exams last year my hall ticket for exams is not generated then I called on every helpline , every office number from morning to evening but not anyone picked that . Then I have gone to campus before two days from exams then I got the ticket. This kind of small matter can be solved on the phone also.
Some study centres are also not good in providing information.( But in my case it was ok but in my friends its not)
Classes at the study centre does not be conducted at all.
Things which are good in IGNOU is -
They offer variety of courses in different fields which are some times not offered in regular Universities programs.
Also no need to attend college on regular days only weekend attendance is required.
Can study at home no need to go anywhere , also books are dispatched at home
Also all purposes like for admission to exam fee all work can be done online easily.
So in all its good university if you want to learn especially at home & want self study mode.
Sometimes this type of University courses are not preferred at jobs or in other work places over regular courses but I would say if you really want to learn not just want to earn degree then this is all good place to study.
Overall I will give only give 2/5 stars from my side for mis-communication of University with students.
