A failure has some positives too. Team India members may have not done what we sent them for but then we need not go after them. Remember they are our stars and we prayed for their well being only last week. We believe in miracles and when our stars were busy shooting other poor players from Bangladesh and SriLanka were working to be in the next round.This is just the way we are and miracles do not happen everyday. Indians are great with mathematics and we are now doing all sorts of calculations that if Burmuda can beat Bangladesh we can slip our foot in the door. We are a country where miracles are waited for and it seems this is not likely to happen in a hurry.
When Mr. Chappel arrived - and I have said it before - he found the team as it is now - disoriented. I am sure what John Wright handed over to him over a beer - he just continued from there. The decline just continued. A labourer can not be given a thnking cap. Dravid is a mason(see how he has made a wall of himself). He can work hard. Too straight a man to see through situations and his background will not allow him to stand upto someone and talk back. The leader should be a man who should be able to see beyond the immediate. I must say he is very loyal to his teammates and is very dignified but we are looking for a leader who can inspire. His own performance is above all and still that does not mean a thing when it comes to leadership. Dravid is a player every captain would love to have in the team but we have taken him to the next step and it shows he is out of his elements.
Leaders make errors in judgement but do not accept slackness a la Tendulkar underperforming and still being a passenger in every trip. It seems the team is carrying him on their shoulders and trying to run a marathon. He should be graceful to move on. He is now a very good actor and could be another career for him in the waiting. He should take with him Dada, Kumble, Agarkar and leave a new captain to do something with the team. I tell you it is not easy to do two things togather acting and playing cricket. Acting is a long and tedius process and that is what our player have become good at. They will be perfect in the films.
Greg Chappel should fly straight from West Indies to work on his next assignment to write the inside story of what happened between him and Dada. I do not think his India visit will do him any good! Whatever anyone says - a book is bound to come and it will upset many because Chappel will play with a straight bat and it will be interesting reading. Another positive from this failure.
I remember the story where every villager was asked to donate a jug of milk to fill a very large container. All thought a jug of water though equal in volume will not stand out and will look milk once mixed in with others contribution. A fair enough thinking and if the members of team India thought the same - what is wrong with that? Every player in the team believed that the next star will click - so he just took it easy! Self belief and belief in the team members - another positive.
I heard that Pakistani players have bought burkas to arrive home unidentified. India players are just waiting for the Indian Consulate to arrange for banlges before they head home. The best thing is that none of our stars got injury in the field and none got dengu. Another positive from this - good they do not have to change dates for shooting their pormos. At least we have got all our heros back safe and sound. Poor Kumble he had his movie timed to be released during India playing Super 8. I heard he has decided to hang his gloves. It will be easier to choose which spinner will play.
Let us welcome our heros at least they have won one match. Oh sorry, they did win the warm up matches and everybody was soooooo happy. Indians are very tolerant. BCCI chief has come out and said that we can start planning for 2011. We just need 10 players! Tendulkar said he wants to play in 2011 world cup. Let us give him one more chance to win this for India. If 10 players can not do what Tendulkar alone can do? The latest I have heard that the senior players have performed better than the younger player in the statistics so how can we question them?
