I used to drive a Ford ikon but sold it to go in for a second hand smaller car as my wife was finding it difficult to Drive the Ikon. Anyway, I narrowed my search to 2 cars - Wagon R and Santro given that they were the 2 best in that category. I test drove both cars but decided on the Santro for its better handling, stability and build quality.
I searched all the Auto websites and second hand car delaers in bangalore. After an exhaustive search I found a White 2003 Santro Xing XG at a used car dealer in Indiranagar (bangalore). This car was in excellent condition though it had done 42000 KM. The Car Dealer is called AutoLine (TS Mahalingam and Sons). There are a lot of used car dealers in bangalore who will cheat you, however Autoline is a reputed company and I have received a good service from them.
I finally bought the car and it was delivered to me on the 6th of January 2007 (4 days back). So far I have been impressed with the performance of the car. The engine is quiet, but powerful. The road noise is much lesser in the santro than an Ikon. Overall it has been a great experience so far. One of the best things about it is its headlights. Very powerful for a car in this class.
I plan to make a long road trip in it soon, so when I get back I will write a review on its performance on the highways.
Definitely worth the price I paid for it.!!
