Though I am quite satisfied with my Santro Xing XP (2004 model), I have a small problem with it and would like to invite views / observations / recommendations from the readers. The problem goes like this:

On starting the engine, if I don't give it an idle run, and let it go in the first gear, it seems to run faster than usual (meaning, higher idling/ first gear RPM). After some time, though, it becomes ok. Is this ok?

Then, within the first couple of minutes if I turn off the ignition and restart it after two-three minutes, the vehicle gives jerks while shifting from first to second gear. Sometimes it even stops due to lack of enough power. It almost seems as though the engine is hungry for fuel, though I have tried raising the accelerator at idling. It is almost like the car is losing its power during transt from one gear to the other (neutral to first and first to second, and slight jerk second to third). No such problem between thrid and fourth. The problem goes away completely after five to ten minutes of continuous driving in third or fourth gears. All this while, the a/c is off.

And of course, there is no problem at all from cold start, if I keep on running it without turning off the ignition in next two-three minutes. The clutch plates (replaced once) are only 500 kms old. Can anybody guide me in this regard?
