Its been three months since I have purchased this car My conclusion about this car :
"FANTASTIC DRIVE". I wont be going into specs as those are available on the company's website.
I have purchased a 1.3 Petrol GLS with tubeless tires.
This review is purely based on my experience driving the car
I have driven this car right from day one on the highway, the fuel consumption is roughly between 12-13 kms/litre with AC blower set to 1, and thermo set to medium.
I have driven this car mainly on the highway
FANTASTIC things about the car:
riding the bumps and potholes , you just dont get that jerky feeling or the thud sound when you go over them, like you hear sometimes in an old maruti zen. The car handles the bumps quite well
drive and comfort,very comfortable ride, sometimes its boring riding this way but, nevertheless the car does not vibrate at high speeds (80 kmph-mind you I cannot go beyond 90 until first servicing is done) and brilliant backrest and headrest (well positioned for dirver who is 5'9). There is no fatigue or tired feeling after a long drive. Solid drive. The guys at the rear tell me that the car is quite comfortable at the rear and three guys with medium built can sit VERY COMFORTABLY. However this is not possible in swift or estilo or even in a spark !!! :). The gear change is quite smooth and quick
AC and fuel efficiency, you cannot set the ac to the max, otherwise be ready to wear a sweater or get the pee feeling!!! :). AC works well but sucks fuel. In order to minimize the damage, set the AC thermo to medium and blower speed to 1. The car gets pleasant, but only for the front seats. The guys at the back wont feel that pleasant. You would need to set the blower to 2 or 3 for the backseat guys. I have not calculated fuel eff on the mumbai roads, as I know the numbers are not good at all. It wont go more than 8-9.
Wiper and Dashboard, for heavy rains the wiper works good at high speeds, but has it limitations if the rain is super heavy (happens all the time in mumbai). The rear wiper works well but has no speeds variations... this is something I am surprised at...hyundai should consider a fast moving rear wiper too.
the dashboard is wide and clean, its not cluttered. Reaching papers or objects is quite easy. But for a short person, this would be a bit of challenge . Visibility from driver seat is fantastic. Its well positioned seats are amazing.
the car does not come with a music system, and plz remember to put speakers at the rear and do not use the door speakers, as there is a serious lack of BASS!!!. I have made that mistake, do not want other music lovers to suffer my fate...
The adjustable steering wheel is a good thing.
I feel this car does not require a proximity sensor for parking as visibility (front and rear) is preety good.
Continental Hyundai (Khar West - Mumbai)
My dealer isn't that great, he did not do the anti rust coating and teflon coating inspite we reaching an agreement on the same. The dealer also renegaded on the sun film. Eventually I got it done from outside, had to spend 5k on it.
Overall the car is a great ride, comfortable for passengers, reliable and a satisfactory fuel efficiency considering that this car is a heavy built car thanks to european safety standards.
So one has to disregard the fuel efficiency (difficult thing considering the price of petrol) and see other features.
If you are one of the guys who is planning / considering buying the getz, PLEASE TAKE A TEST DRIVE, you will know the DIFFERENCE
