I bought my silver hyundai accent executive 2011 in first week of june. Have done 1000Km till now and first service is due next week. Thought of sharing my feedback on my new accent.
Just to give background, this is my first car. I was looking for car in budget of around 5.5L. Monthly run is less, therefore did not want diesel car. Started researching with hatchbacks and zeroed on ritz and figo top end models. I really liked the figo diesel, as it was just coming on adding odd 40K to my budget, but was turned off by the interior quality, low ground clearence. Also it did not have rear power windows and rear window would not come down more than 60%. Rear seats were also not 60:40 split, although the boot space is best in its segment. Ritz was immediately out seeing the behavior or maruti salesman. He did not knew much about car and just wanted me to buy it as it is maruti product. Even the test vehicle he bought was in poor condition.
I liked the hyundai accent, but was not looking at it as heard very bad FE(8-10kmpl) about it.
But one day, I decided to take test drive of hyundai executive and was really amazed ride quality, its interiors and feature it was providing at such reasonable price. I then researched about the economy of new executive and came to know that it is giving above 12kmpl with ac on in city limits. Some were even getting 14+ with proper gear usage. That was the time, I decided and booked my accent and got it delivered in first week of june.
I have already driven it 1000km till now and its first service is due nxt week. What I really liked are:
lovely biege interiors with wooden finish dashboard console. you really get that executive feeling.
excellent handling
ride quality is good. We had too weekend trips in it till now.
Good road view. This is best part. I am new driver. As I am 5' 11" tall, I could see the full view of engine bonnet. I think, this is due to its shape of engine bonnet. This really helps me in driving in very crowded places, very sharp congested turns and bumper to bumper traffic.
Now the FE part, I was ready for figure of 10kmpl before the first service. But to my astonishment, I got 13kmpl in city, with ac intermittently on, in my first full tank calculations. On highway, it gave me around 14kmpl with ac on. Since, I am new driver, I stuck to lower gears a lot in first month of my driving. I expect these figures to go up, as I now use good gear ratios.
The cons I could note are:
For taller people like me, little dis-comfort in getting in/out of car. I am used to it now.
Bottleholders are very small. glove box is small. utilities to hold stuffs are absent. this is really annoying at times.
I think the FE has improved by tweaking the engine to deliver less power at lower gears. I sometimes feel engine power is not as 1.5L should deliver. But then again, I have never driven any other car with same CC engine. I will talk to service guy on my first service about it. Any way this does not bother me now, as I am not a zip-zap driver. I like to drive in speed limits and avoid unnecessary accelerations.
Overall, I am happy with my decision to go for accent till now. It is great value for money.
Anyone, who is not looking for a 20kmpl car should test drive it before making any decision. Also please check the technical specification of accent with any other entry level sedan and then compare the price. You will surely see why is is called value for money.
Will update my post about FE and any other observation after first service.

Update1:
Had done 900km after first service. Done two full tank to full tank mileage calculations.
First one gave me mileage of 11.6 with ac on in city. I hardly moved to 5th gear during this run.
Second full tank to full tank gave me 15.1 kmpl with 80%ac on on highway. This is duration when I went for 3 day outing with family.
Please note I used HP power for above runs.
