Avoid Huawei phones. Poor Quality and Service

I purchased a Huawei Ascend G510 Mobile phone recently. This is a typical low budget android phone with seemingly good specs on paper.


The day I visited the shop, there was a promotion and the shop wanted to sell only Huawei phones. So, they offered discounts and highlighted the features of this phone(even comparing its features to Galaxy S3).


Huawei claims that it has 4 GB of storage, however when you use the phone, you realize that it is actually around 1 GB that is available to user. The apps are directly installed on home screens, and removing an app from home screen means uninstalling it.


A few days later, I realized that Proximity Sensor(the sensor that turns off screen when you bring phone closer to face during a call) is not working. I realized that it was never working from the beginning because many of the calls had got disconnected and suddenly it would venture out into menus and do something because screen was active during the call.


When I visited the only Service Center in Bangalore(Sai Srinivasa Service Center at Rajaji Nagar), I realized that it was a crowded place with service center for more than 10 companies. It took me almost 30 minutes to explain the staff what is proximity sensor(I don't think they have understood it yet).


Anyway, they collected the phone and asked me to check in the evening. I was shocked. Why couldn't they tell me the problem within next 30 minutes as I was ready to wait(no one wants to travel 20 kms in Bangalore traffic). They said that they can only do a software update that will take 3-4 hours and if it doesn't solve the problem then they will send it to Huawei(which will take several days).


When I protested citing the example of my LG phone(that was attended by LG Service Center within 30 minutes and given back me immediately), they said that they cannot do the same.


Huawei issued a replacement phone after lot of arguments.


However, a few days later, the replacement phone also started giving trouble. When I visited the service center, they started showing me some minor dents and scratches and told me that warranty is void. Then they called up Huawei's Regional Service Manager who repeated the same thing. They said that Huawei has not policy for repairing this phone model - Ascend G510. They directly replace the phone if there is any problem.


However, they told me that they cannot replace my phone as it had some minor dents. The most shocking thing is that this company doesn't have a policy for repairing phones. By chance, if there are minor dents on phone, they will neither repair it nor replace it.


After lot of arguments, Huawei agreed to service my phone outside warranty for a sum of money that they said they don't know(remember - they don't have a warranty repair policy) and will be able to tell me after their engineers inspect the phone.


Avoid Huawei brand at all costs. This brand is not worth your money.
