In 33 years of my life, I've travelled to various places across the globe and have stayed in hundreds of hotels. But trust me, this was the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Infact calling it a hotel is an insult to even worst of the worst hotels.
I went on a trip to Mahabaleshwar with my family and was taken to this hotel by a guide. They charged Rs 3, 000/- for two rooms for an overnight stay. The hotel seemed fair from outside and since it was late night, I didn't think twice before paying. The horror started when we entered the room. It smelled like gutter, there were gutkha spits on the walls, the white curtains had turned black with dirt and there were hand marks on them, there were used condoms, cigarette and beer cans inside the window grill, gutkha spits in the washbasin as well as its tap, somebody had even forgotten his baniyan which was lying hung behind the door. The bedsheet had hair and dirt and was stinking like hell. Needless to say, the tv and ac were filthy too and not working. Seemed like the whole room was not cleaned for years. They didn't even seem to change the bedsheet during checkout.
When I called the room service and asked them to clean it up, they just broomed the room. When I insisted them to change the bedsheet, they started quarrelling with each other and one of them told me that they don't have extra bedsheets and they will get one on rent in a while. I kept waiting and no one turned up. The whole family could not sleep all night. There was so much noise created by the staff all night and not an ounce of shanti was there. At 6 in the morning, the room service guy knocked on the door to provide a bucket of warm water, as if they care so much for their guests. The comode was so dirty we could not even poop let alone taking bath. I called the manager and told him about the torturous experience, to which he said that they don't change bedsheets coz it take days for them to dry and they don't have enough budget to keep extra bedsheets. I was like what the hell, why are you running such a hotel then, to which he had no answer. We checked out early morning and went to another good hotel in the town and heaved a sigh of relief.
I could never imagine to find such a trash place, not even in my nightmares. I wonder why such hotels even exist in the first place. Giving one star coz it doesn't have an option of zero star.
