we had made our bookings for Fort Rajwada in advance and were recieved by a driver appointed by the Hotel to greet us and take us in an open jeep to Fort Rajwada Hotel. Since it was the off peak season it was hot and so were we but in entering the hotel lobby the staff smilingly greeted us with garlands and gave us cool towels to refresh ourselves.
We were promptly checked in and were led to a beautiful room which was already cooled by the air conditioner for our convinience. We were shown around by the manager, Mr. Yogendra. He also informed us that we had recieved a bottle of mineral water and two bottles of Pepsi as well as a plate of Rajasthani sweets and local mangoes all compliments of the Hotel.
We decided to have dinner at the hotel's poolside restaurant called 'Jhankar' and were delighted by the variety and quality of the food served. They were also reasonably priced inspite of being a five star hotel. The waiters were cheery and helpful. Later we had a conversation with the F&B manager who gave us a detailed introduction on the workings of the hotel and information regarding Jaisalmer.
The hotel has been built according to 'Vastu Shastra' and is probably one of the few hotels having a fully functional temple to perform pujas by the owners as they are strong believers in the power of their respective Gods.
Every friday the famous train-palace on wheels brings its passengers to the Fort Rajwada and arranges a buffet for them.
The hotel is seven years old and has been fitted with 3 beautiful 400 year old 'jharokha's' typical of rajasthani culture. This gives the hotel a very authentic look.
This is considered the best hotel in Jaisalmer and we're happy to endorse it.
Our stay was very pleasureable and we have no doubts in recomending this hotel to Mouthshut members.
