Till date our CB Shine SP has been performing very well and as expected has been shining bright, living up to its name. My route to office is a mix of smooth tarmac and badly broken patches as I make my way through 45-odd kilometres on a daily basis, one way. The broken parts of the road are mostly full of deep potholes that require a fair amount of concentration to negotiate through safetly. Thankfully, Honda has thought it through to consider a variety of terrains encountered in urban riding conditions and the telescopic front suspension and twin-coilover rear suspension are setup soft to tackle them. They are quite pliant even with a pillion on board. However, there have been times when the softness of the front suspension leads it to bottom out. On some occasions, this was terrifying as I lost balance but managed to put in corrective action, avoiding a minor fall.

Another aspect complimenting the suspensions are the tyres. The CB Shine SP has been equipped with just the right set of tyres that offer strong grip, be it on tarmac or mild off-road surfaces. They offer the required level of confidence thus ensuring overall safety too. The tyres have gone through wet-weather riding and I've enjoyed riding the motorcycle because of their performance. Of course it goes without saying that riding sensibly and responsibly will ensure that there are no mishaps. Sharp turns and twists are tackled with equal ease without any fear of losing balance. While riding the bike at speed, if the need arises, sudden braking is also dealt with assurance without ever feeling unsafe. This is partly due to the excellent Combi Brake System which applies a calculated force to both the front and rear wheels at the same time making the risk of either tyre locking up less.
