I have done my software management andI'am workingin Microsoft as SAP Consultant.


I’am writing this review on my Honda Civic 1.8V Automatic which I bought last year.


Dealer Experince-I bought the car from Deccan Honda in Pune and Mr.Arniikatti the general manager of Honda gave me a good deal.Our family knows him from many ye ars.Delivery was as promised No problem with the dealer.


Interior-Best in class. Cockpit like feeling.All controls are easily accessible. When we open the door its nice to see the welcome illumination turning ON.Plastic quality is also good.The steering wheel feel and thickness is also right.No sound at all.When we shut the door we are insulated from all the noise coming from outside.HAVC is good as well.


Cruze control works good and is very relaxing during long drives.Opposed wiper blade is something new in this segment.Looks good.


Security system with answerback and keyless entry with answerback facility is really helpfull in everyday usage.


Exterior-It looks fresh…and according to me it will look new and fresh for the next 20 years. Design is beautiful and aerodynamic. Co-efficient drag must be very less..must be less than 0.36.Like the wiper working direction too.


Engine and Transmission-Civic has world class 16valve 1.8 SOHC i-VTEC engine.It gives optimum performance.We can’nt know if the engine is ON or not.Very silent performer in all gears and speed.I wish instead of SOHC(Single Overhead Cam Shaft) Honda would have given DOHC(Double OverHead Cam Shaft). DOHC engine layout is better than a SOHC engine layout.In DOHC engine the valve timing is more precise and better valve lift is achieved also DOHC setup eliminates the need for rocker arms, thus creating better valve timing and valve contact is more direct too.When tuned, SOHC layout can be as efficient as a DOHC, but under proper tuning, DOHC engine always achieve more power than SOHCs.Maybe Honda wanted to keep the prices in check.VTEC(Variable ValveTiming and Lift Electronic Control System) eliminated the need for individual valve setting which is important after every 20thousand kilometers..thus improving service timings. Rest engine is bulletproof and can work endlessly for years without any problem.Its a typical japanese and authentic Honda engine.


Drive by wire eliminates the need for a actual wire connection between the accelerator and engine throttle body.When we press the accelerator electronic signals are sent wireless to the throttle body and accordingly the throttle body adjust the engine speed.This is more precise than the conventional wire accelerator.The feeling is great.


Well the transmission is intelligent too.It can think on its own.Its not a simple automatic transmission.It does not simply switches/changes gear according to the vehicle speed.Civic transmission also calculates the road inclination….wether the car is going downhill or uphill and also the weight its carrying.All data is sent into a gearbox microprocessor collected from different sensors.. , calculated and then accordingly gears are selected and changed.All this is done within a fraction of a second.We can’nt know the gears changing.Honda mated the engine and gearbox neatly.Even if we open the bonnet and looking at the engine we can guess and think the technology behind it.Even if we open the bonnet we have to strain our eyers hard to listen to the engine !


Paddle Shift is good when we are in a mood to race.


Suspension-Suspension is good.Good stability but low ground clearance.In the users manual it is actually written to look out for the bumps and ditches when the car is fully loaded.That is a MAJOR drawback of civic.But luckily Pune has good roads and mainly all roads are now repaired and smooth and mostly are free of path holes.I haven't faced any road related or civics ground clearance issue since I took the car.Lucky were ever I went roads were good.Even in Villages.


But my uncle who also has a civic bought before mine did have a major suspension problem in 2007.His vehicle was badly damaged from underneath because of a stone.


Tyre size is also adequate..thicker size would have being better but still good.I switched to 205/95 Pirrelli P Zero ROSSO tyres with Nitrogen instead of air when I bought the car and they are still going strong.Nitrogen helps a lot in running the tyres cool and better leak proof/puncture protection in tubeless tyres.


ABS, EBD and brake assist also helps. Rest car is good…would recommend to everyone.
