I have seen so much reviews about bike & I have a karizma(aug 2006) model, So I think its time to share my view about karizma classic(not karizma R or zmr)

Well to start with I have black Karizma (Aug 2006)model which Costed me Rs76, 000 on road price in delhi. My ownership experiance of 3 years & 6 months to be more specific & 63 thousand kms of riding

.

Looks & Style - I Cant say much about it, u all know better. As time pass by the quality supresses this factor

Handling - Well Handling is extremly good

Performance - This I will take in detail.

1)Top Speed - Even sum guys claim it can do 140 or 150km/h on youtube or so but mine goes about 128km/h with single rider & 125 with pillion rider.

But one more point, on an open highway by leaning on petrol tank completely(Ur chest must touch petrol tank) I have touched 135km/h single rider

.

2)Average - Mine give an average of 34-36km/l consitantly.when I ride crazy in city like taking rpm to redline before every gear change it goes down to 30km/l.but on long trips of highway & contantly riding between 75-80km/h average goes up to 44km/l.

3)Maintaince - well This is one Hugeee Plus point.Till now I Can cout my whole money I have spent on maintanece on finger tips

Heres a list--

  • ones chain set after doing 30000km worth around rs900

  • Tyres after 40000km around rs 2500

  • Thrice front disk brake pads.It changes at about every 20k kms cost rs 900 twice & recently rs2200 (They have increased the price about few weeks Back)

  • Rear Brake Shoes Every 10k kms(rs 120 each time)

  • Spark plug after each 15k kms(rs 90 each)

  • Normal Service After each 2000kms interval costs about rs350

  • Once the clutch cable Broke (rs 150)

Thats it guys not a single penny more.

Other Factors- My Bike has accidents twice , once by me and other time when a friend borrowed it from me for a week.both times I have to spend 7thousand+ to get back it in shapes.Thats not maintance even if u have hayabusa or something even then u have to loose ur pocket weight.Anyway if u are a armature in bikes & have a habbit of falling every six months then dont buy it cause spares(fibre body parts are costly).

Engine Specs- U all must be aware of that for those who dont its 225cc engine with 17bhp of power.

My Eperience & Verdict- Well, I very rarely takes engine at 9000+Rpm except racing that too occationaly.Till now I have done only 6 trips of long route on this bike.Manali, Shimla.Jaipur, Agra & twice Salasar(Bala ji Temple).Well Guys in my opinion its more of a tourer kind bike. I will like to tell that Salasar is about 400km Oneway. So u Leave Delhi at 5am in morning, cruise at about 75-90km/h speed & take brakes for tea, coffe etc at every 120-140 km gap, then u will be back home at 10 pm in night. So this bike has capability of crusing upto 800km in a single day.Although I have done other trips too but they are not worth mentioning Cause they are 4 or 5 days trip so doing 1000km in 4 days is nothing but doing 800km in a day is something u must know.

My freind recently brought R15.it does 55km/h speed in 6th gear at 4 rpm whereas mine karizma does 68km/h at 4 rpm in 5th gear.

My karizma can cruise all day long at 5.5 RPM at speed of 90km/h speed without overheating.OR U can drive 100km/h at just 6 rpm all day long so I guess its more of a cruiser(Take Test Ride Urself & judge).

Negative point about Karizma - If u are doing tripling then on speed breakers the front no. Plate touches the front mud gaurd.of if u are at speed above 70km/h & a deep pathole comes in way even then front number plate touches mud gaurd.

In 3&1/2 year the bike rattles too much. The rattling noise comes from front & rear tail light assembly.Once when I was in my village with four guys on my bike(including me) a speed breaker (tough one) was in way.Although I tried to cross it at very carefully even then my main stand touched it & my chain cover cracked. I had to have done welding in chain cover but that's okay guys(Bade Bade Deshon Mein Choty-2 Batein Hoti Rahti Hain).

Positive point About Karizma- Well The engine is very solid, Never Demand anything .Karizma may not be having technical specification Good enough on papers but at least I have peace of mind that it will never brake down on any road.It a trust worthy horse for long routes.in Village where tripling is common & except some exception speed breakers you don't have to worry about anything.(once you get used to rattling fibre body part then no matter on what kind of bad road are u will easily cruise on pothole(Not Pothole on road but road in potholes) at more than 80km/h speed & nothing will happen).

Overall-- Well karizma in my opinion is number 2 or 3 contender in terms of Technical spec in all indian bike Available today.(pulsar 220 on top, 2 position is debateable)

-- Karizma is Number one for Tourer(no debate). This where bore & over sized bore engine differ from each other.Karizma thumbs up

-- Karizma is number one in durability, longer sustainability of high speed.without overheating(I have tested for 800km in single day)

My View:

Some of my friend suggest me to replace clutch plate, I don't know exactly when to replace cause service center guys says that whenever clutch plates will slip & you will get a feeling of engine rpm increasing but speed not increasing proportionately, then clutch plates are worn out , But In my case till now no problem, top speed is still same about 128 km/h & so is mileage consistent of 34-36km/l. So I guess its not time to change clutch plate. You know if you are a first time biker then blindly buy this you wont regret your decision. Instead I will recommend any hh stable bike.its not that I am a hh fan but my experience is nice with hh. My many friend have Pulsar 150 & thier experience is not nice(engine overheating problem, False neutral, Red Light of Side stand indicator always glowing on meter, Changing Clutch plates very soon., Engine dealing problem etc.

Here I am not saying that bajaj is bad maybe they have improved a lot.(nor I am commenting on other models of bajaj except P150)All I am saying is that my experience with hh till now is good in terms of engine, but fibre body work of bajaj is good. They don't rattle as much as hh fibre body. So all I am saying is, I don't want to influence you all guys. Decide yourself whether Karizma is nice buy or not.
