I had posted a review titled “A good guy” a few months back. I feel unfortunate to post this one again …. and this time I am not recommending the bike …. The problems that I’ve been facing with the bike forced me to post this one.

·         The biggest problem of em all, is the mileage. It hardly does 35Kmpl guys! There isn’t  any out of the world performance that might justify the low mileage. I’ve had 2 services done till now but they have been no good. The brand new bike used to return 45+. But, since the first service, I’ve hardly managed to get 35+ regularly. I’ve done over 2600 kms now.

·         Next comes the electrical …. Some nut at the battery assembly seems to go loose every month and all the electrical functions(self start, lights etc) fail. I’ve got it fixed twice already in 3 months and am waiting for it to happen again.

·         Then comes the front brake. The service centre guys have been unsuccessful in fixing the squeaky sound that it makes when applied.

·         Then it is the gear shift. You cannot simply change from the 5th gear to the 2nd at one go. Release the clutch marginally and try; the gear shifts. Not an ideal situation to face in traffic I guess …

·         To add to my woes, the service that I’ve got at the service centre has been dissatisfactory. Not professional at all.

The electrical and brake problems may not be there in every bike. But the mileage and gear shift is a sure concern. I’ve confirmed that from other hunk users too. So guys, you can still go for this bike provided mileage is not a concern for you.

Anybody has any tips that can help me increase the mileage, please let me know.

Thanks in advance.

Ride safe ……

Below is my first post .....

Hi All,

Let me just put up a precise review of the Hunk based on my experiences so far.

I've done around 1500 Kms on my bike so far.

Hero Honda has finally done an excellent job with the looks of the bike. It has been a head turner almost anywhere i've gone.

The engine seems is smooth and i've had no problems with it so far. The Pick up is good. I've managed to go past the pulsar 200 too, on a few ocassions, at the traffic lights.

It is not very fuel efficient though. I was getting 40-43 before the first service. After the first service it dropped to 33-35. Had to take it back to the service station .... and now it is steady at 40-43 again. This when I ride at speeds of around 50-60 kmph. Touch the 80's and the mileage drops to 30!

The bike is heavy when stationary, but once in motion, there is hardly anything in its class, that handles as well as this machine does.

The suspension is awesome. One of the smoothest rides I've ever had. The Unicorn is the only other bike, I feel, is as good.

The gear shift could have been better. On occasions, while changing the gears real quick, I've noticed that I had to release the clutch for every change ..... else it just would not change.

The rear brake could have been a bit stronger. Having said that, I must admit that the brakes have never ditched me till date. I have found the front brake to be noisy sometimes, sounds like the typical liner noise ..... I have not figured out as how how disc brakes can emit such a noise.

The bike WOBBLES! Yes it does. I felt it when I took the test ride. Had the problem prominently for the first 400 odd kms, and now whenever, the air pressure is a bit less that recommended, it wobbles ( good in this case, I would say. You know when you have to get the type pressure checked).

Headlights are not very strong, but it lights up the road well, if you dont have the street lights on.

After having ridden the bike for 1500kms, if you ask my opinion, this machine is one to go for!

Happy riding .... be safe guys.
