Some of you who watched Headlines Today last evening would have seen the extensive coverage given by the channel to Bipasha, Ronaldo kissing affair. The anchor discussed in detail about this incident at such a length which left one to think that this news is event of the day and is of so much importance to India. It was shameful to see the Channel flashing the same picture of the duo Cozying up, again & again and adding spice , mirch masala etc. Even if Ronaldo had kissed Bipasha, who cares, why does the media get into their private lives? In what way is the common man concerned about what John thinks about this incident.
What was so baffling to me to is the fact that the News Regarding Taj Mahal making it to the 7 wonders of the world took a back seat & Bipasha's kiss was of monumental importance. GREAT SHAME!!!
Couple of days back Vishwanathan Anand became World No-1 IN CHESS but this was reported as a routine information very briefly, where as Bipasha's kiss took the center stage for the media and was covered for a good length of time.
Some of the channels cover many such trivial issues adding their own flavour and spice it up by running a SMS Poll to ask the opinion of the viewers. I am astounded to see the number of viewers respond to such petty issues wasting their time & money without realizing that some one else is making money at their cost.
I would like to make a sincere request to all MS Members not to participate in any such SMS contest which is of no use to any one.What pleasure do I get by seeing my name in the corner of the screen for one hundredth of a second.
Media has a great responsibility in Projecting Emerging India to rest of the world and each of their programs should value add in some form or other but unfortunately some of the channels seek cheap publicity in order to increase their viewership.
One might like to ask as to how I was watching this. In fact I didn't as I changed the channel immediately but to my horror when I was flipping through the Channels after about 30 minutes I found the same story was being flashed again & again.
Poor Show Headlines!!!!! Finally, what are we teaching the Youngsters of Today, who show tremendous amount of enthu, to take India on TOP of the World.
