Harry Potter forgets everything for a while. There are no dark forces against him, there aren’t inner voices as well that somehow indicate the presence of the Dark Lord. It’s the time for disco err... it’s when Harry meets a girl and can’t get her eyes away from her but that’s a part of the story our trio have now reached adolescence and they have started thinking of things other than just magic.

The Goblet of Fire is the 4th installment and is should I say the better of the previous two versions now i.e. simply my opinion & you of course can have yours. The book (the longest among them) was 734 pages now if I happen to make this movie it would have been 20 hours long with a budget of $ 1000 billion and would have closed Warner Bros. for ever. It was a joke which shouldn’t be laughed at but Director Mike Newell does well to suffice the movie narrative in 2 hrs and 30 something minutes.

The story packs in a Olympic like event called the Triwizard Tournament which involves three contestants from three schools of magic. So it’s the trio of everything. 3- Schools; 3- Champions (as they call it) and 3- Tasks and the age limit is 17. But guys and gals Harry is 14 and still he has ‘omg’ another 3 years to be eligible for this tournament which is as Dumbledore Michael Gambon (the new Dumbledore) not for the faint hearted. So we have a Goblet of Fire that selects the contestants and instead of three it pops out the fourth name i.e. of Harry Potter who isn’t eligible at all but it’s a movie & something has to go wrong somewhere. So does Harry win the contest or does he even survive. The dark lord Voldermort has arrived so what next? Watch The Goblet of Fire.

The movie is loaded with positives and it matches the magic of the very first Potter movie. The special FX and the camera work is just picture perfect and give a grandeur feel to the franchise especially the aerial views, the stadium cheers and scenic beauty of Hogwarts and surroundings. The visible entertainment in the movie is something that will deliver to everyone’s popcorns munched during the movie.

For Popcorns.

1)Watch out for the first task carried out by Harry when he fights a fire breathing dragon to capture an egg for his next clue. Stupendous.

2)Underwater sequence where Harry carries out his second task is spell binding and visually a merit because generally the underwater sequences aren’t sharp and crystal unlike on land. Exceptional.

3)Plus when the other academies arrive at the venue especially the boat and flying taanga or chariot carried by white flying horses (courtesy Neha-nenners)

For the Potter fans

The movie does the justice to a long book which I haven’t read :p & actually I haven’t read any of the Potter books and I prefer watching Potter movies. The emotions are well etched especially between Harry and Ron because they both are older now and understand that things do change at this time. Ron is jealous of Harry and even uses the word never used in Potter movie history “Piss off” and he doesn’t like to be called Stupid friend of Harry. Hermione is in a different world she isn’t helping Harry to complete his magical spells in fact she is busy worrying about her ball partner and getting frustrated on Ron’s behavior. So the movie is dark, emotional and transition of young magicians.

Oops..

Those looking for non stop thrills and mysteries the movie might be halter as it goes in Ballrooms, dances, lovey dovey sequences. To an extent yes they pull down the considerable pace of the movie considerably generated with the first task. For children it might appear to be a bit darker and scary look especially the jungles and the woods.

Performances

Daniel Radcliffe i.e. Harry is proving that he isn’t a kid anymore and acting well. Ema Watson Hermione for once I thought wasn’t completely there because she wasn’t casting any spells and all. Rupert Grint Ron has done well looking jealous also he provides the fun in the movie especially when the girls kiss his chicks.

Ralph Fiennes as Voldermort has just arrived so not much on his acting at this movie. The rest of the cast including the new Dumbledore is good and adds fun and vibrancy to the movie. The “Mad-Eye” moody played by I don’t know who was loud but his eye reminded me of Arnold’s in Terminator.

Mike Newell has done a extremely well and perhaps a much suited director thanks to his British background hence the understanding of the book.

On the whole the movie is good and I say that coz I felt that. Potter fans or no potter fans this is worth a watch especially when other options you have are like Taj Mahal and some Ek Khiladi and what not.

Cticize’s Quote:: “Watched the movie First show today and thankfully sat beside a much aware fan base of Potter. The best sequence for me was the first task and interactions between Harry and Ron. There are two Indian girls who wear Salwaar suits in the Ball and look cute, they greet “Hi Harry” every now and then.

Rate the review coz its just a click and Comments are more then welcome. You know I love them :D.

PS:: Harry has a bath tub sequence with Moaning Myrtle.
