Story:

With the title of this review you already have a fair idea of what this review is going to be. Yes, this is another Chetan Bhagat masala book(not a blockbuster yet). Mainly for the masses, this book kept me interested throughout my 2day long association with it.

A guy by name Madhav falls in Love with Riya and the story revolves around them till the entire last page. Folks in their younger age may read it with greater interest as they could relate a lot of things people do when young. For instance things done at the college, at cafe with friends, talks and gossips that happen etc. Without revealing much about the story I will quickly list out some of the pros and cons I feel, this may differ case to case.

Pros:

  1. I liked the book for its sentimental climax(this may not fetch a point in your rating)

  2. Being from Bihar I liked reading things a Bihari boy does, places in bihar sound to the outside world, etc

  3. Good to know things about the Gates foundation and how this book involved a message to appreciate charity for a cause.

  4. This book shows true rural India(Bihar), how people behave, talk, eat, live, sleep.

  5. Many more depending on what you like, for instance good to know things like the Madison Square Garden and its history, the two drinks minimum rule at most bars in New York(or the whole of America may be). The Gol Ghar in Patna and its 228 years old history. There is a lot on offer and the book will keep you interested at all times.

Cons:

Nothing really was a con except for the fact that sometimes it felt like instead of Madhav Jha it was chetan bhagat speaking/thinking for him. This is just how I felt and may not be the case when you read it.

There is a line in the book where Madhav tells Riya: “Deti hai toh de, nahi toh kat le” this was heavily criticized on social media for being cheap masala to sell. However I have different opinion on this and I found it absolutely ok to be used there(given the background about Madhav Jha)

I pre ordered this book from Flipkart for Rs149 and I think it was money well spent.
