Hi There,
I own a HTC Desire X which got wet in the recent rains and is not turning on since then. On contacting the service center I was told that the issue is with the mother board and it has to be replaced which would cost me 6600/- INR.
However I decided to take a second opinion hence did not deposit the phone with the service center. On contacting a local mobile service center I was told the problem is with the IC which was replaced costing me only a mere 650/- INR(inclusive of service charge).
Basically the HTC customer service center was trying to fleece me and that to 10 times the actual cost of the repair. I was really taken aback by your service center who
1) Misguided me & tried to cheat
2) Without sending the phone to HO arrived on the issue with the phone
3) In a span of 10min I spent in the service center my 8gb memory card also went missing

HTC customer service executive s response was as below:
# HTC always replaces component when there is an issue, which means irrespective of cell phone s condition or repair-ability customer is forced to pay up for the spare part.
# In my case HTC service engineers diagnosed the phone of having a mother board issue in a matter of 5min, whereas they could have done a detailed examination of the phone and given me a report.
# After I revealed that my phone had only a small component issue(Credit to my local vendor), HTC engineers are covering up by telling me IC is part of the motherboard and hence they had suggested a replacement. They clearly show lack of professionalism.
#'Approximate' cost as per a common man s understanding is a ball park figure and not a ten fold price difference(Rs 650 to Rs 6600)
# My biggest loss in this ordeal was loss of a 8GB memory card filled with lots of personal memories which is irreplacable.
At the end HTC customer care executive has the audacity to say that HTC engineers can diagnose a problem of the phone in 5min as they are experts and nothing much can be done with loss of my memory card.
The only positive is the phone which is really good but backed by terrible service. If in case you have a HTC phone never go only to the authorized service center take a second opinion as you might save a lot of money.
