Credit Cards …many times know as Plastic Money is something that is become a necessity in today’s times. Forming an opinion on which credit card is better than the other is a little difficult to tell , with so many banks offering you this facility. According to me its only the way your acquaintance with the customer support service or a good or bad experience which determines one to talk about the pros or cons of the card, which without using for a person is difficult to determine.

I go by the experience of holding the HSBC card, which I think is good in most ways. I think many or should I say most of us carry a credit card but many a times are not aware of the privileges the card has to offer. While doing so I suggest you must keep a few things in mind and visit the banks in your locality for a total update of the facilities offered by each and then decide what matches your interest, because opinions are formed on experiences.

One major step that has taken place in the credit card is that now you get a credit card that is globally accepted. One does not need to make a separate card while travelling abroad. As it is accepted worldwide one can get upped 48 days credit on purchases without any charge being levied to your card account, provided your previous balance statement shows settled in full on due date. However, only if part payment is made, the interest free credit period is not applicable and one will have to pay some finance charge.

You also have access to cash round the clock, with so many ATM centers in and around each city/country.

To make the card more attractive scheme like Bonus Reward Points for purchases for every Rs100/- your charge to the card you receive 1 bonus point, which can be accumulated and exchanges at a later point with gift vouchers or gifts as per your choice in a vast gift range offered by the bank.

It also has other privileges like the connivance of booking your airline tickets over the phone at a discount of 2.5% on basic domestic fares, if booked through Cox and Kings and Travel Finance Limited, and the tickets delivered free of charge within city limits.

The repayment options are also varied like one can settle card payments through ATM centres, Over the counter, Mail cheque/Draft, Standing Instructions if you are an account holder with HSBC, Skypak Drop – Box.

In case of a lost or a stolen card, one must inform the bank immediately so as to stop the misuse of the card and follow this with the legal procedures necessary.

The annual fees for a Gold Card is Rs2, 000/- and for a classic card is Rs200/-, further details could be got at any HSBC branch office.

Word of Caution for the right use of your credit card:

1) Never disclose your PIN to anyone.

2) Always keep your card in the same place in the purse pocket etc so one notices it immediately if it is missing

3) Always keep a copy of your card details; comes in handy in case of emergencies or loss of card.

4) Ensure that merchants process the cards in your presence, and check the card returned to you is your own

5) Never surrender your card to anyone other than a merchant when making a purchase

All I would say choosing a credit card is dependent on factors like customer service, no of branches & ATM’s and outlets in one’s own area for the convience of banking too. To make it more user friendly , all information as any other bank is available online too, a matter of logging on to the site, including getting your current outstanding etc on line. As for me all my expectations were fullfilled by my HSBC card. Yes I agree cards are a temptation for spending on something which may not be of immediate need, but everything has its pros and cons, even while writing reviews (haha) And hence I recommend HSBC credit card
