Yes, its a true love story . No not my love story, but I am sure we can all fine an element of Gurukant Desai and his beloved Sujata in all of us. God is wintness, to all loving couples who got and did not get married. They have gone through similiar hardships and the highlight of the movie is that the ordinary man, the lover goes through all hardships and the human spirit of never giving up (never mind the corruption because of the system) wins in the climax.
Yes, I am sure , all lovers and all couples have faced hurdles in 1 form or the other when we applied for a job, gave interviews, wanted admission to engineering college. Buss.. enought 1 dont want to be labelled as a lecturer. A lot of people have already watched the movie and know the plot .. But just to be in brief. Guru is a story of a young lad who goes to istanbul to make a living out of selling petrol cans and then grows up to be a dashing abhishek , a pakka baniya type businessman who creates wealth for himself and his shareholders from sheer dedication. In the process, he decides to marry sujata (ash), a typical gujju village girl to get dowry to raise capital for his business has to be a part to the corrup system by bribing the goverment and all(you know, as it happends in real life.... The movie highlights the existing dowry system too...
The movie cast is just perfect with all the chracters playing the roles to the hilt. Abhishek has played the role of a lifetime . In the climax scene in the court room , you can just sense the bacchan within him .. the angry young man.. uttering dialoges in 'Agneepath'.... Although I personally felt that ash could have been utilized more for her acting than just looks. She is still going strong and looks very fresh.
Lastly, the best songs of the movie are 'Tere Bina' by A.R.Rahman and 'Barsa Re' .. You got to hand it over to Rahman. He is a genius and we all know that but the real genius is Gulzar.
