Mr Chappell, a perfect example of an unwanted mess, who was happily forgotten by us, is now back in the media with making countless statements and seeking all possible attention? Who would believe such a politician who has always been surrounded with controversies?

What a disastrous coach…! - Under whom we had the most embarrassing , shocking and a ridiculous world cup! No great wins ! Instead Team India, the 2003 World cup finalists, went on to became a highly beatable mediocre team despite having superb talent. You could easily forgive team India for losing the 2003 WC finals, but its very difficult to forgive the 2007 WC debacle.

Whatever Mr Chappell had said has turned out to be so wrong. He said Sehwag is a great player who would one day become the team’s captain, whereas Mr Inconsistent has been struggling forever to cement his place in the team. His Ganguly - thrashing beautifully backfired.

Besides, having a foreign coach always has its share of problems, like, miscommunication, racial abuses, etc.

And see what happens when we’re without a coach (and a new bright leader)..we win the Twenty20 world cup! How memorable that was! Moreover, we beat Aussies 4 times in a span of month (twice in T20 and twice in ODIs)  which itself is a feat….and of course we beat Pak in ODIs and are very close to beating them in Tests. My point here is that we have regained our above average status and are on a fast track in becoming one of the top teams. So why do we need a coach? Why can’t we keep appointing ‘technical coaches’?

Ok, from a long term perspective it might be important to have a head coach, but even then, why the obsession with a foreign coach? What is the guarantee he wont turn out to be another Chappell? Don’t we have enough talent in our own country? – someone passionate and super patriotic like Shahrukh khan in Chak de……..! If we have an Indian coach, how obliged he’d be to deliver!  He can be attacked, ridiculed or praised at every opportunity by the media….he’d be under close scrutiny for everything he does and he’d have to defend every bad performance plus he wont run away after his contract ends!

God save us, we’re about to have another foreign coach soon! Whatever happens, lets only hope that we don’t lose our winning momentum and be fully focused in becoming an ‘unbeatable’ team  by the 2011 WC  to be held in the subcontinent!
