Some tips and tricks:
? If you want to use your handset only to stream to Chromecast device (means you don't have a wifi router), follow these steps 1 to 7, to configure the device for the first time:
Turn your phone's wifi hotspot ON, connect the Chromecast to TV and power it ON. Bring another temporary phone which has Google Home app installed and turn its wifi ON.
Now during steps to add new Chromecast device in Google Home app, the temporary phone connects to the Chromecast device.
Now select your phone's wifi hotspot and supply connection password in the Google Home app, from the temporary phone.
Chromecast connects to your phone's wifi hotspot only if authentication succeeds and the hotspot has internet!
Now your phone's wifi hotspot name and password are stored in the Chromecast device.
From the Google Home app, link the detected Chromecast device to your Google account.
Chromecast device setup complete.
Now switch OFF the Chromecast device, uninstall the Google Home app from the temporary phone and forget about that phone.
Switch ON the Chromecast device and it automatically connects to your phone's wifi hotspot.
Install Google Home app on your phone, open the app and find your Chromecast device connected to the phone's wifi hotspot, in the app.
Now you are all set!
Other tips:
? Select and setup your phone's wifi hotspot band to 5 GHz, If you want to use screen mirroring (instead of casting videos) from Google Home app to TV, to avoid glitches in the video shown on the TV.
? LocalCast is a best app that detects Chromecast connected to the phone's wifi hotspot itself (majority of apps look for Chromecast device connected to a different wifi hotspot and that only when your phone's wifi is turned ON) and casts videos from some players like MxPlayer where you share the video via Share - LocalCast.
? Chromecast tends to disconnect from wifi hotspot if it finds the hotspot doesn't have internet. Chromecast will connect to the wifi hotspot only if it has internet. But when you start mirroring your phone's screen or casting offline video content from apps like LocalCast, you can turn OFF your phone's internet if you suspect Chromecast uses internet from your phone's wifi hotspot while casting or mirroring.
That's all folks now. Enjoy your gadget.
