I watched Ghajini expecting it to be a great film, in the ranks of super hit films.I have to say that it didn't disappoint me.The following is about the movie's strength.

Now for the storyline. It would be unfair for us to say that Ghajini copied Memento. Nonetheless, the idea might have been derived from Memento but that's about it.The idea of a person who is only able to remember things for 15 minutes only is interesting by itself. The storyline also moves back and forth between his present condition and his past,as the rich guy who is in love.Much credit should be given to the director for narrating the story throuh Sanjay's(Surya) diary. This makes the story seem more thrilling than it seems.

I have been a Surya fan since watching Kaaka Kaaka as his acting was one of the best I have seen, along the lines of Kamal and the great Sivaji. Surya has done a marvellous job in Ghajini by playing the role of Sanjay Ramasamy,a rich tycoon who is suffering from short term memory. His body language, dialogue presentation and emotion shows why he is one of the hottest heroes in Tamil cinema.

The same has to be said about Asin. She has come a long way since her Malabar days. She is not only gorgeous but she also blends well in this film with Surya. Not to mention the on screen chemistry between her and Surya. In the film, she plays Kalpana.a model cum activist who just loves helping others. That's what that gets her killed in the movie, though.

The comical sequence of events where Kalpana thinks that Surya isn't Sanjay and instead is Manohar is indeed humourous especially when she laughs while on her way back with the so-called Manohar. It was quite pitiful in the scenes where she gets struck on the head by an iron from the villain Rawat Pradeep. She also never gets to know about Sanjay's true identity.

The music is also foot tapping and awesome.I just love listening to that song Oru Maalai. It just so soothing to hear. So is Suttum vizhi, which is another great song in this album.Although most people don't seem to like Harris background music,I feel that it was excellent at certain points of the movie.

Now the weaknesses. The villain,Rawat Pradeep is just not good enough.Perharps he should just go back to Bollywood. He can't match Jeevan who played Pandia in Kaaka kaaka.Plus, the ending is quite loose and doesn't seem to be dramatic as it should have been. The idea of Sanjay fighting the two big twins by himself is quite outdated. The action is also a little bit overdone and the director couldn't get the Matrix style action properly.Nayantara was very unconvincing as a medical student because of her appearance and her acting is very plain at certain scenes. Her dressing is horrible, she looks so fat and ugly in those clothes.

However, overall this is a very good film and it is worth the money you paid to watch it.It is fast, the story is slick And it is indeed a honest try.Good job to everyone involved in making this very entertaining movie.
