When you drink too much!

Though a hangover may look a uncanny mistake, but it is a more serious problem to have. It's no fun having a hangover. Most of the people know this but they will still wake up to a spinning room, having a thumping headache, and of course the bathroom dash.?. Drinking alcohol is not a problem but drinking too much is!

Causes & Effects of hangovers?

The answer to this question will be drinking too much alcohol.

It isn?t a complex medical problem, but a simple dehydration which causes nasty problems for us!. Alcohol is diuretic(causes increased output of urine) & speeds up loss of water from body. Thus causing parched-mouth thirst, headaches, and that feeling of continual dizziness. Nausea, vomiting, and indigestion.

When you have had a tiring night out followed by a lack of refreshing sleep - means you'll feel fatigued the following morning. This situation is worsened when your body organs try to sort out the disruption you've caused - which uses up energy, too.

Preventing a hangover?

Not drinking is the best form of prevention?. but let's be realistic to all u party people there!

A simple fact - *Look after your body and it will look after you *- so avoid dehydration, protect the stomach lining, and take it easy as far as the amount of alcohol you drink is concerned.

Eat a good meal. before you go out - While preventing hangover you should eat fatty food, coz fat gets digested slowly & helps in the prevention. A glass of milk will protect the stomach too, and slows down the absorption of alcohol.

Whilst you're partying- Having water or non-fizzy soft drinks in between each alcoholic drink limits the amount of alcohol you drink. Avoid fizzy drinks because they increase the amount of alcohol getting into the blood stream. The substances found in wine and spirit colourings and additives magnify hangover effects, and irritate the stomach lining. This is why white wines and spirits such as vodka are said to cause fewer hangovers.

Before getting asleep- A walk in the fresh air helps, but if you can't manage this, then take a taxi or get a lift from someone who is not drunk but DON'T drive. Drink at least a pint of water and some orange juice, because the vitamin C speeds up the metabolism of the alcohol by the liver. Have some toast - a lack of sugar is responsible for that wobbly trembling feeling, and it will settle your stomach too. A sports drink contains everything you need and is a convenient alternative.

If you wake up with a hangover- Everyone has their own hang-over cures, some work, others don't. It's best to plan ahead. If you're feeling queasy, antacid liquid or tablets will settle your stomach, as well as a nice cup of ginger tea. Paracetamol will relieve your headache. Anti-sickness tablets come in handy too.

Once again it's water, vitamin C(fruit juice or tablets), and some toast. Eggs are good & mop up the destructive chemicals that build up in the liver when it's metabolizing alcohol.

*The effects of a hangover last about 24 hours - so be patient. You'll soon feel better and ready, inevitably, to do it all again!

Cheers,

Vivek.
