Competition!

The moment anyone just happens to hear this word COMPETITON the next word they wanna hear is WINNER.

What is competition? It implies different meaning to different people. Everyone be it at in an individual level or Corporate level wants to be successful, they want to win. For Corporates it is the question of the Market Share.

I would strongly uphold the concept that Competition allows to grow. History too has proved it. Killing Competition only leads to killing of the brands. I would go furthure and say that this is exactly what HLL did in the Ice-cream sector.

It was a time when the Ice-cream sector was booming, yes I am talking about the time when there were players like Vadila, Kwality Walls, Dollops somewhere in the 90s . But today we no more hear these brands in the market. The brands have become extinct.

Kwality and Walls were owned by two different companies Kwality was owned by HLL and that was the time when Walls had opened up Ice-cream parlour across the country in a huge way Looking at the growth, HLL decided that they buy out Walls. Then it was known as Kwality Walls, soon after the take over both the brands became extinct. We hardly get to see the Ice-cream parlours these days. This was one of rutheless decision of HLL which killed both the brands.

Another classic example is that of Coke Thumps-up and Pepsi. When Coke took over Thumps-up it had invitied competition in its conference room. Both Coke and Thumps-Up started competiting with each other. Ultimately who had to lose?

Whereas in the Food sector there was healthy competition i.e between Cadburys and Nestle which ultimately resulted in growth of both these companies. Any one who has seen this market can vouch on this.

To conclude I would say that one should avoid killing competition. Healthy competition allows growth in EACH and EVERY WAY. SYNERGY is called for and not killing of competition by way of Take-Overs.
