Hello, Haan boss, what are you doing tomorrow? are you planning to come to work, Dunno boss lets see if theres no problem, definitely would not mind a holiday!. Well I guess that echoes the sentiments of lakhs of middleclass salaried class on the eve of the maharashtra Bandh in Mumbai. All of us are so involved in our work, living in a coccon not breally bothered much about the world outside.

Have we ever pondered to think about the repercussions, most of us relax, basking in the sudden holiday. There is so much loss of property, time, labour, notional income, not to mention lives too sometimes! Monthly wage earners are seldom affected, its business, daily wage workers who are badly hit.

I ponder, wonder frustrated why do we behave as such, viewing the world over seldom do wee see consistency in strikes/bandhs as such in India. Some are as a mark of protest and some are mundane. Is violence against violence the way to fight terror? Million dollar question isn't it?

There are countries wherein strikes mean wearing a black badge as a mark of protest. Its time we stop sit and ponder  , does this mindless stubborn mentality lead us anywhere?
