The reason why I am writing this review is that, our country has a lot of potential in sports. If you see the rankings of our junior teams or in the Individual rankings at the junior level, they are the BEST in the WORLD. There is no Sport where Indian’s have not left their mark of their own or made the country proud. May it be junior world cup in Cricket, Hockey, Badminton, Table Tennis, Tennis, Chess or any other Sport. U name it & we have been there in the TOP rankings. Now lets come the Senior levels, Cricket we are at the 7th Rank in the ten or eleven playing nations, Hockey we are at no.6th in the World, Badminton we are in some 34th Position, Table Tennis we are on some odd ranking, Tennis though we reach World group in Davis cup, but have been in Final's only twice & have lost on both occasions. As far as football is concerned we are at 131st Ranking, which means that if every year the Soccer world cup takes place & the winning country quits playing football, then we will the world champions after 131 years. Hockey being our National Sport & the only sport which has got us GOLD MEDAL in Olympics is neglected by our govt itself. Even if we compare it with Pakistan, for the latest facilities available for improving the Standards. They have 98 astro turfs stadiums & over here we have only 16 or maximum of 20 Stadiums. Kiwi's (New Zealand) have 128 Astro turf Stadiums for Hockey. If we can have World Champions at the junior level's, why not at Senior level's too. Leander Peas is Junior Wimbledon Champion, what is his ranking in the senior level tournaments. Sania Mirza again a junior Wimbledon champion.
Where is our Junior Cricket team Captain (Mr.Rayadu). Why can’t we try these talented players at different tournaments? Why do these upcoming talents have to compete with the OLD Horses & then get dropped from the camps or are not selected.
After which what they look for is nothing but a security of a job & settle down in life with the loads of other responsibilities from family. If the government could have something to protect their interest & talent to have a better future in the world of Sports. I guess we will also have Boris Becker, Ronaldo, Maradona, Ponting, Steve Waugh or many more Sachin's in our kitty. If this happens then the day is not far off, that we will see ourselves getting more GOLD Medal's at Olympics & Asian Games, rather than being satisfied with 1 bronze or 1 silver medal from a contingent of 200 Athletes in any games. What say?
Pros : We will be the BEST in the world in all sports
Cons: May be will not be seen on the world ratings at all some day.
