I am quite new to MouthShut.I was going through some newspaper's and Magazine's reviews.I read a couple of reviews on India Today, and was surprised to find that even the Illustrated Weekly had a place here.I am a regular reader of The Week,Outlook,India Today and Frontline. So naturally,I clicked the Frontline's link, expecting to find quite a good number of reviews. To my surprise, there was not a single review! On India's most Informative magazine.

There could not be any debate on the fact that Frontline is the most informative magazine in India.(of course, after excepting career-based magazines like CSR).I was introduced to it some 5 years ago.(i am just 18 now).I subscribe to it for 5 years in continuation. It is the only magazine that I read from cover-to-cover.

Yes,I am subscribed to India Today and The Week. But I have never imagined reading them from cover-to-cover(I dread that).Once India Today arrives,I will just skip through the pages, reading some articles here and there. That is the end of that week's India Today. It will get shelved, finally to be sold for the cost of paper.

Frontline,as any product from The Hindu group,is driven by value, more than money.Any event happened in the country during the week would find a place in the next weeks frontline. Not just mentioning, but a full coverage.

I agree to the fact that frontline is very much left-leaning.N.Ram (leftist sympathizer+a first class cricketer for TN+owner+editor of the Hindu group)has got together the best authorities on Imperialism,Anti-Globalization,Secularism etc.

Frontline's columnists are also leftists.P.Sainath,Praful Bidwai,CP Chandrashekhar and Jayati Ghosh gives a view of the other side of 'India Shining' in almost every column.Former CBI director R.K.Raghavan's column stands out.John Abraham gives his suggestions of foreign policy, A.G.Noorani on secularism and Islam.

One of the most important reasons for my subscription is Praveen Swami's write-ups.He is arguably the best known Indian about the terrorism in J&K,Army in J&K,the IB and RAW,and the human rights angle of 'Army in J&K'.His scoops on 'Operation SurpVinash' has won him wide acclaim.Nowadays, after N.Ram took over as Hindu's editor,he writes in The Hindu also.

So if you want to have a look on the 'other side of the Shining India' or 'Another world is possible' or the 'neo-cons and Noam Chomsky',Frontline is the magazine for you.Or if you want to prepare for IAS,or want to become a politician/journalist,or a Politics freak,go for frontline. If you want to just skip through pages, enjoy bits of gossip or improve your self confidence(and confidence on your country),read India Today.Never come in front of frontline.

I have no idea of the money The Hindu Group is pumping to Frontline to keep it alive.
