Freaky Chakra - Had been reading vague reviews about this one from all the newspapers and had never come to a final decision about it. Supposedly the story of the movie was as vague as the review itself.

I am pleased to say that the newspapers were all wrong and I am glad that I ignored the advices and skeptical stares of all my friends who were supposedly movie experts, and went to see this awesome movie. Me'n'my friend shruti checked out the papers for sunday and came to the conclusion that Shakuntalam theatre was our best bet. For those of you uninformed and uninitiated, Shakuntalam is one of those small, old ,bygone cinema theatres inside Delhi's Pragati Maidan which still airs off-beat and ''hatke'' movies. On weekends you can expect to catch art movies while on weekdays you might be lucky if you're able to get tickets for ''movies with a difference''.

The reason being that Shakuntalam is still living in the past and the seating capacity is just about 100-150 with the ticket rates being in the range of Rs.25 to Rs.40 . Plus it is bang in the middle of Pragati Maidan and thus away from Delhi's commercialised and polluted roads and colonies. Hence the fact that its a favourite haunt of all teenagers who are budget concious and also want a relaxed and peaceful movie experience.

Well coming back to the movie , me'n'my friend waited for 2 hours for the 6:30 show and thus talked away a lot during the wait. Finally the gates opened and we seated ourselves in the simple but adequate chairs and settled down to watch the movie.

From the begining casting itself the movie's soundtrack was awesome. Even though the best song I liked was the last one '' Total kella ho gaya ''. The casting in itself proved to be different from regular castings. The movie overall was shot with as little music as possible relying on the ambient sounds to fill in, which was a very nice change.

This movie was shot more like an NSD (National School of Drama) play by incorporating a ''sootradhar'' (narrator - played to the hilt by VJ-Ranbir) The story follows the life of Ms.Thomas (played by Deepti Naval) , a very beautiful Widow and her cranky behaviour along with her various neighbours. It was such a pleasure watching a seasoned actress like Deepti Naval , carrying out the role of a cleanliness freak, sexy but cranky widow with ease. Ms. Thomas was a doctor but since the day she wasn't able to save the life of her husband who succumbed to a heart attack , she is no longer a doctor and now embalms and decorates dead bodies prior to their burial (amazing profession huh). Then a complete change comes into her life by the entry of a youthful and energetic teenager who comes as her Paying Guest. How he changes her life and how she changes to different cirumstances is what the movie is all about.

Do go to watch the movie. Its worth watching at least once with ur friends, or loved ones etc. But beware , do not watch it with ur parents or children coz the non-veg jokes and the intended adult humour might embarrass a few souls. Otherwise on an overall a lovely movie with surprising twists and turns and the movie never going as according to your prediction. Each and every guess of mine about the next scene was wrong. Hence a total enthralling and entertaining and light movie. Best time to watch it is in the evening shows or late-night shows. Don't ask me why but thats the best time according to me watch this one. Adios Amigos.

Ashvyn
