Flipkart:- Fast delivery, Good option. Review on Flipkart

Though this review is based on my personal experience of last one and half years, my views can differ from person to person more specifically person living in cities other than metro. So, I will be happy to get your views, comments and rating whatever and however they are.

The online store was never so popular in India earlier. The existence of Indiatimes.com and Rediff shopping was just for the name shake as very few people were satisfied from their service. More ever, the delivery charge, however large be the consignment, were been charged separately as handling charge. The online Store were hardly equipped with varied things till the time Flipkart.com arrived in Indian Market to established its status as Online Mega Store being compared with like of Amazon.

Getting the correct product

Flipkart.com is online store where various things are available. From Books to Music, Mobiles to Laptop and other general accessories are found on flipkart. So, flipkart search algorithm are designed on such a way that they are so easy to find a suitable item. You can refine the search as per the brand and your need and this will help you to reach the correct product. More ever, I personally like the Product description I get in flipkart more than of any online website. The Rating for a product can reflect the rough sketch of usefulness of product to be bought though it is just a feedback rating from buyer. Reviews are available there, but they may not be so genuine for correct decision.

Compare, select and get it in your home.

Website browsing speed is very good and construction of website is user-friendly. Its 'compare' feature helps to choose a better one among the other. As product is decided, we can choose the mode of payment for purchase. In almost all products, the availability of cash on delivery is the one that gives every customer some risk free purchase.

Let me point out some of the good and bad things about flipkart in details other than mentioned above.

1) Their self couriers: as I found in Mumbai and Delhi, flipkart has its own courier to deliver the goods. This makes the delivery effective and good handling of product.

2) Faster Delivery:- So because of them having their self courier, their delivery service is faster than any other online store. That's why most of the product in flipkart are available as "to be delivered in 2-4 days" while the same product in other store gives a longer estimation of time. So, for quicker delivery, flipkart can be opted in metros while they take time to parcel the product when to be done by speed post.

3) Safe packing :- Flipkart provides safe packing for its delivered product. Most of the time when I have received books delivered from flipkart, even books are well-packed with plastic that prevents scratch and protected with other two level of packing to ensure safe packing.

4) Original Products: The most of products I found on flipkart are original and they don't keep it in their site unless the product is genuine nor they keep it confusing products. So, this reduces the chance of defective product, however it should always be noted that a product can be defective or some exceptional defect during shipping

5) 30 days Replacement Guarantee:- Though this is the assurance given by all online store, flipkart delivering it through its own manpower makes this promise more assurable than others. For me, I never had to go for replacement as I always found the product in proper condition.

6) Customer care is always the affecting factor of any company, so here flipkart is acceptable. Personally speaking I never had reason to call customer care because of products complaint, but few of the times when I had communicated them through website itself, it was a good response. More ever, I liked the classifications to contact customer care that they have in their website.

Let us move towards some of the points which are bad in flipkart.

1)Higher Price:- Though flipkart has wider range of products, price of products mentioned in it are comparatively more than other online store. For e.g., Mobile phone and accessories are lower in snapdeal, Books price are lower in infibeam and fashion product are lower in some other else. So, when a customer wants to minimize its budget, he will think twice before buying any product here. Though they sometime sell product with some offer, Price is not satisfactory. More ever, their levels of discount percentage they offer in products have decreased since their opening.

2) Higher scale for free delivery: Since it first arrived, the scale for free delivery was 100, it then changed to 200 and then now it is 300. So this seems a higher scale for the customer who wants to buy just one book, and they end up paying higher charge for delivery. Though it can't be argued that a specific scale is needed to balanced transaction in both of the party, free delivery after 300 seems a higher scale especially when they have their own couriers. But once when I had to send a book of 250 in the area beyond their coverage, they had speed post it. Although it took more time than expected, it reached safely with their usual packing

3) Some of the weird price:- In some cases, I have found that product price is between 271 to 299, which compels customer to pay more than 300 for a product. In one case, a product is priced 299, this means Rs 329 has to be paid for total delivery, this is indeed a weird price and flipkart need to think about such stupid price that takes extra money from customer.

4) Rare discount coupons available in web: this point can't be said as drawback of flipkart, but as a customer, we may be opting for discount coupon. So flipkart discount coupons are rarely found on any web (I haven't found a single one till today, if you have let me know also).

Conclusion:-

For some flipkart is the horrible nightmare as many people might have suffered through its delivery delay, Many People might be frustrated because of defective product they had dispatched, few may have wasted extra money in calling customer care to resolve the disputed issue, but given the condition that a thing will always posses both good and bad parts, I think flipkart posses more of former and its acceptable for online shopping provided shopping are limited to certain boundary. But not to forget, online shopping should be wise enough.

I myself have tried many other online stores but couldn't find them acceptable. Especially late delivery as they don't have their own manpower to deliver. So if you have money and you need the product in proper time, Flipkart is always a better option. Price might be higher, but the difference of price is not so high and it's acceptable if one is seeking some good shopping. It is fast in metros, but it may be different in rural areas.
