Bad paper and print quality books from Flipkart. Review on Flipkart

I have purchased 8 books from Flipkart in last 5-6 months. When I received the first book I was quite happy with the timely delivery and very good packing of the book. But when I opened it I was little disappointed – as the quality of the book was not as good as it should be. It was a book from O'Reilly publication. I have 8-10 books from O'Reilly publication. Orally is one of the best publications for technical books. When I purchase an O'Reilly book I know what kind of quality to expect. This book was not up to that standard. But I thought may be O'Reilly has degraded its printing standard. But the quality was not very bad as well. It was not as good as per O'Reilly standard but it was OK.

Then I have ordered some other books. Every time I got the books in time with good packing but paper and print quality disappointed me. Finally I have observed one strange thing. All the books that I have ordered from Flipkart are having the same paper quality. But the books are from different publications. I could not able to understand how come books from different publications can have the same paper and print quality. I have asked the same thing to the Flipkart customer support but I got some invalid answers – they have suggested me to go for international publication of the same book if I need good quality books. International books costs 4 to 5 times more than locally published books. I know I am not even expecting the quality of international publication in local price. But what I am expecting here is that if I purchase a book from Flipkart and purchase the same book from local book store both should be of the same quality. But unfortunately this is not true. I have checked some of the books that I have ordered from Flipkart in local store. The qualities of the books are better at local store – that’s what you ideally expect from a book from that particular publication. But when you purchase a book from Flipkart it is independent of publication – you can expect the same low quality books from all the publications.

I have discussed this with some of my friends and got to know that they have also faced the same problem. I am not sure about all the books – I have observed this problem with technical books from well known publications(Computer Science related). These books are really expensive that’s why I am little disappointed. I don’t’ know whether Flipkart prints its own book. Otherwise how can the books from different publications are having same paper and print quality. Or Flipkart specifically orders low quality books from the publications. Flipkart provides discounts as well as free delivery but these can not be at the cost of the quality of the books. If required they can charge extra for courier but they should not sell low quality books. From now onwards I will purchase books from local book store. At least I can check the book that I am purchasing. I don’t know about other items but for books Flipkart is not the right choice.
