Ok, How many times have we heard Vivek Oberoi or JLo say - ''there is a price we have to pay for popularity....'' etc. etc. Here is reverse example of it, friends. Flavours had started as a small joint serving Italian & other continental dishes catering MAINLY to the PG population of Defence Colony. PG, as in Paying Guest. Defence Colony was & is still filled with houses that sub-let floors/ terrace flats/ servant’s quarters to students & the migrant working people in Delhi. Some years back, Flavours used to be frequented by such. But a during a recent visit - I was taken by shock. They have obviously expanded a great deal, & hiked up the prices in proportion.
The Menu - Apart from the regular Spaghetti & Lasagna, you must try the Prawn & Rice Salad - its steep at more than 350/-, but its great. What you could do is try it once & get the hang of the recipe & prepare it at home the next time you feel like some prawns! The Ice Tea is also great - not the sweet sugar syrup you get everywhere else.
The Decor - Its good, of course. Add in a bit about the crowd/ clientele here...its usually packed at Lunch time (especially on a Friday or Saturday). These are office-goers from places nearby. Don't we all love splurging on Fridays/ Saturdays? The Service - Its one of the ONLY places in Delhi where they have waitresses. And you know us women - ever so efficient & hard-working (!!). The best part is - all of the staff - speak well, dress up well & overall, behave very well. Naturally they get PAID well!!
The Prices - This is where I start to complain!! This used to be a budget Italian Restaurant for college-goers like me sometime back (not a very long time back!). But the prices have shot up & visiting the place is going to become a luxury soon. Okay, so you must visit the place, especially since there are such few places in the city that serve authentic Italian (not the masaledar stuff : ; )...but while you're there tell the owners to save our souls..... we love the place - keep it affordable, please! A price is paid for popularity, not charged for it
