Surfing through MS today, I landed up at a place called "Five worst Songs of Rehman".I am specially writing this review to let our fellow MS’ians know that some people cannot be defied only because the talent they posses is far out of reach of your understanding.
Right from the time of Roja, Rehman has heard more criticism then praises. When Dil Se released, there were people who used to tell me the songs are crap. However, they(the songs) gradually proved to everyone that we are way ahead of our times. They grow on you more than they grow on the popular chart busters. Apart from Chaiya Chaiya *there was *Satrangi Re *and *Aie Ajnabee which were among the most beautiful compositions I’ve heard from any music director till date. Bombay was simply superb. The instrumental Bombay Theme *is still one of my favorites and will be till the end of time. *Saathiya never dying music, so close to my heart.
I’m a Super Rehman fan and I have reasons to be proud of being one. When Aashiq Banaya Aapne(Himesh Reshammiya) *had released, Himesh was just a starter those days. Rehman was the first and the only one to call him then, just to tell him that he liked his songs. Apart, he is so abstemious and honest; he never talks about his own songs as his favorites. When a journalist asked him “which song is your Favorite?”, he softly answered “Bheege Hont Tere* From Murder”. But have you ever heard any other music director talking about *Vande Mataram, *the Best song Rehman has given.
I can tell you 5 of his worst songs, but will never stop when I start talking about millions of his amazingly beautiful songs.
No doubt he has given some absurd numbers in the past, but that is a stage in the life of every human. We have also been silly and stupid in our lives. The Important thing is to learn from these silly mistakes and grow up. The way people have written reviews in this column is very embarrassing. His classical knowledge of music is far above the understanding of today’s generation, and it takes time to understand his music. Come-on, how many people liked the songs of Taal, Lagaan even Rang de basanti *until they heard it for a couple of times. He is the reason for making a stupid movie like *Taal a Super-Hit. He is the reason for the sale of Airtel Mobile Cards. His Music speaks.
He is THE GREAT A. R. REHMAN, the man who is way ahead of his times. Your criticism against this man just shows how poor your knowledge is on the subject of Music.
And If you guys are wondering why I wrote this review here then by know you know that its written for you only.(Because you have come here to Read or Write a review on this Topic.)
