::: Idiotic Attempts At Film Making :::

Just like every year in 2004 as well, the number of bad movies outnumbered the good and the above average ones quite easily. Luckily, I didn?t get to watch all of them, but unfortunately, I did come across five of these disastrous products at the name of cinema.

5. Jaago

Directed by Mehul Kumar, this film was based on a real life incident regarding a mentally challenged girl who was raped at Mumbai?s local train. But the presentation of the whole movie is horrendous to say the least. Especially the gang rape scene of a young girl(around 7 or 8 years old) by three drug addicts has been shot so sadistically that it makes you sick in the mind. There are three witnesses to her rape but no one comes to the young girl?s aid. She dies after reaching the hospital.

Raveena Tandon and Sanjay Kapoor are playing the parents of the girl, while Manoj Bajpai is the cop who is investigating the case. He asks Raveena to dress cheaply and go in the same local train, so that when the rapists will try to make her a victim, the police can catch them red-handedly. But as we know, our Indian police is always late, thus, Raveena ends up murdering one of them, saving herself and also taking the revenge. The result, both Sanjay and Raveena end up behind the bars. A lot of usual Bollywood Masala has been added in this flick, which doesn?t quite suit the tone of the movie.

4. Aan? Men At Work

I simply can?t believe this movie is directed by the same person who directed wonderful films like? Chandni Bar, Satta and Page 3! Madhur Bhandarkar tried his hand at yet another movie revolving around the lives of cops(there were many of them last year Khakee, Police Force, Ab Tak 56 and Garv to name a few) but sadly, it seems action movies isn?t his cup of tea! The movie fell flat on his face and deservingly so! Dialouges were poor, songs were pathetic and there was nothing new in the story line at all which could keep the viewers glued to the screen.

Even a great star cast? Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty, Om Puri, Shatrughan Sinha, Paresh Rawal, Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta and Preeti Jhangiani couldn?t save this flick! It?s high time film makers understand, we don?t want lavish sets and a glamorous star cast, just give us a good meaningful film and we?ll be more than happy!

3. Tum? A Dangerous Obsession

Directed by Aruna Raje(who also directed?Rihahee?), Tum is one of the worst Manisha Koirala movies ever. Manisha is a middle-aged woman having a dull phase in her married life after completing 18 years. To spice things up, her husband decides that they?ll spend their 18th marriage anniversary in Mauritius. There in the heat of the moment she has a one-night stand with a young photographer.

Later, she feels guilty for her actions and the thought of cheating on her husband keeps haunting her. The young guy is obsessed with her and makes life difficult for her by blackmailing her & asking her to maintain relations with him. In the 2nd half the movie becomes a murder mystery as that young guy is killed!

The director should have either focused on murder mystery or the obsession, this way she hasn?t been able to do justice to any of them, and the film just doesn?t make any sense at all. Characters are not well defined, plus the climax shows that the brains of the audience have been taken for granted!

2. Tauba Tauba

Directed by TLV Prasad this movie is senseless to say the least. Just made with a view to earn quick profit, it?s a sheer waste of time. Low budget, no storyline, pathetic acting and lots of cleavage & bikini show are some of the main features of this B grade movie.

Payal Rohatgi and Monalisa are the two girls doing the honours for the frontbenchers. There are rumours that Payal has given 32 smooches in her new film called?Laila? and is all set to break Mallika?s record of 17 smooches, which she made in Khwahish. Monalisa has appeared nude for the debonair magazine. By these two facts, you can very well imagine what this movie must be containing.(For more details read my review on Tauba Tauba.)

1. Shart? The Challenge

Directed by Puri Jagannath this flick will be a challenge for you to bear. Consisting of Tushar Kapoor, Gracie Singh and Amrita Arora this is one of the most idiotic movies of all time. Tushar and Gracie are lovers. Gracie challenges Tushar to make a new girlfriend i.e. Amrita. Tushar accepts the challenge and gets Amrita attracted to him, initially just for the sake of the challenge, but later he starts loving Amrita as well! Now whom will he choose?

The acting is wretched, the songs are fitted in the movie senselessly and don?t suit the situation at all, and yet once again the audience is taken for granted! There are so many editing glitches, that there comes a point of time that you even stop noticing them and consider them an integral part of this flick! Although it?s supposed to be an A grade movie yet the execution is worse than even a C-grade film! It gets the award for the worst film of 2004 hands down!(For more details read my review on Shart? The Challenge.)
