This is my third review after'RD burman 20 best songs' and'Jassi jaisi mat hona' and the response has been absolutely heart-warming! Thanx guys, for making both my reviews superhits, and I owe it all to MS and its members! PAROMITA, do u remember me?
As I started to write this one, I was preparing myself for some sharp comments on it!I know, its a rather touchy topic, especially when your favourite actor.or your beloved choice of person.is concerned! And fair enough.i mean, if someone said anything nasty about RD burman, amitabh bacchan, aamir khan, paresh rawal, or vivek oberoi, even I would feel the pangs of rage coz.lets face it.we become emotinally attached to our stars! Right?
But then again, someone has to do the'nasty' job of writing this interesting review.so here goes!
What you'll read below, is only a very personal opinion, so please do not take it otherwise. As in, I am not trying to force anybody to start disliking the mentioned actors, its just my opinion!
(1) FEROZE KHAN:
Ooops.I forgot.he's not an actor at all! I mean.he was never an actor! Dont believe me? Go watch'JAANBAAZ', 'KALA SONA'and more recently, 'JANASHEEN', and u'll know what I am talking about!
His constipated expressions, and even more constipated sense of dialogue delivery can put the entire film industry to shame! Hah.and just imagine.people like these actually have the balls to put up such absolutely shitty performances for the poor audiences .shamlessly looting them of their time, money and sanity! What a waste!
But definitely, he has been one man, who has sported infinite number of fashion accessories on screen! Be it the cowboy hats or tie up boots.feroze khan has tried them all!
But one wonders.whats all that got to do with acting?!?
(2) FARDEEN KHAN:
What can I say.like father like son, fardeen khan is no better as far as acting is concerned! The brand ambassador of the stylish label Provogue, is as stylish himself.and muuuuch better looking too, but then again guys.what about the acting?
If u have seen'HUM HO GAYE AAPKE', you wouldnt have missed that scene, where fardeen gives exactly the same kinda laugh 5 times! The same style, same pitch and same duration! Now that sure was funny! Only fardeen khan can ruin a perfect emotional scene so perfectly written. Where fardeen had to laugh off his miseries, he gives us the real laughs and not tears! But anyway, good for us, instead of the melodrama, we got a li'l scoop of utterly shitty comedy.thoda paisa vasool!
Must admit, FK junior was not too bad in PYAR TUNE KYA KIYA.thanx to ramu! The man could actually pull off a good show in front of his immensely talented co-stars, sonali kulkerni and urmila matondkar!
At least u can credit him with one better piece of acting.as compared to his papa.every movie of whose was a failure!
In FIDA he was lacklusture as usual, and shahid walked away with the claps.
(3) SALMAN KHAN:
Now how did this man even enter the industry.and even if he did.thanx to his better movies like'MAINE PYAR KIYA', 'BAAGHI', 'HUM APKE HAIN KAUN' and'PYAR KIYA TO DARNA KYA'.how is he still continuing with the crappy stuff he does?
At least, once upon a time this man looked good.abhi toh even that is gone! And if those movies were hits. they were so because of the scripts as well! All sallu fans.mark my words.i said'scripts as well'.meaning I have credited the man too!
But only for the listed movies, and the others from that era.80's and 90's! Recently, the man has become suchhhh a pain to even stand! No sense of acting(its just toooo loud!).no sense of dancing(toooo stiff OR tooo vulger! The steps can be done much more gracefully).and of course simply no sense of dressing(ha ha ha! Now really.when had this man last dress up?)
Even one of his better movies of today.'BAGHBAN' AND'PHIR MILENGE' have done well coz of his cameos in them! He tries to give us another dilip kumar with the underactings of his, and the restrained sobs. but hello, we credit ourselves with lots more grey matter than that!
Do I hear u mentioning'HUM DIL DE CHUKE SANAM'.aw c'mon people.cross ur hearts and say, wasnt he just a a bit too ungraceful and loud in most of the scenes? And now compare it with THE ACTUAL MAESTRO ajay devgan!
(4) SANJAY DUTT:
Bland.this man's toooooooo bland. No voice modulation, no expression changes.just plain bland.And to think, this man's now called one of the better actors of the industry!
All because of rajkumar hirani and the bigtime'MUNNABHAI MBBS'(looooved the movie man!) Good for sanju, that his cold oatmeal acting sold in that paticular movie because of munna's charecterization, but.any other role.oh well.
Bole toh.bilkul thanda!
(5) SHARUKH KHAN:
Kill me for this if u have to. but I wont change my decision. THE MAN CANNOT BUT CANNOT ACT! He might be the most viable star in the box office today(unfortunately or fortunately;god knows!) and the phenomenons of our generations, but still, it wouldnt budge me one bit!
Firstly, SRK has given a new meaning to the word stereotypical. the same epressions, mostly the similar roles and above all, that same stinking invincible image on screen.and u know what I mean by dullsville!
Asoka.did u mention? Well I was waiting for that! Be it'ASOKA', 'PHIR BHI DIL HAI HINDUSTANI', 'DARR'.or any of his raj/rahul affairs.he would always be the same sharukh khan!
The similar problem is with priety.after watching 3 hours of them, desperately trying to play aman and naina in KAL HO AN HO, they were still.well.sharukh and priety! Unlike rani, who instantly gets in sync with the character she is! Be it the chirpy and responsible middle class belle suhani sharma from SATHIYA, the lower midle class passionate sassi from YUVA or the ultramodern rich bombshell priya from CHALTE CHALTE! Thats the job of an actress! Same is the case with aamir and kajol!
The other day, I heard amother fan say that only SRK had made MAIN HOON NAA work! The ONLY bothered me. And I laughed sarcastically. But the next moment, I felt sorry for her, and felt that she needed to be enlightened, so I gave her a piece of my mind: well, MHN might have been a crap scriptwise, but it had a way too many attractions to it.
There was a sey sey sushmita, a cute amrita, a naughty zayed(who's much better an actor in his entire clan!), great songs, great costumes(welll.ahem.manish malhotra!), slick art direction, choreography, cinematography and editing!
Now, just imagine NASTIK, a movie from the late 70's, minus evrything that MHN had! BUT.it was still a hit.why? Amitabh bachhan! Anad honestly and only amitabh bacchan!
So when I am talking'bout star appeal, I talk about only the angry young man!
Not that I hate sharukh completely! But he's just a way too overrated.and thats what puts me off! Its not only him who rules the roost, if u try to see things in a more unbiased light!
And exctly thats what I have tried to prove through this review of mine
