Five best hindi songs!

I have actually put it in the wrong category. Pardon me, because I couldn't get a better category on Mouthshut to put my review into, so please forgive me for that. Im telling you this before anyone gets surprised to see how can anyone sing a motivational song to his beloved?

I decided to write this review for my lovely friend Nandeeta who requested for it. After a long tiring day, I decided to put up this review before she decided to put a reminder to me asking for my review :) So here goes my review.

People's perceptions of good music differ as much as their opinions on controversial subjects or political views. I wonder if there ever has been a movie, taking in as an example, which has been universally accepted as a good film.. Universally in this sense applies loved by each and every soul on the planet. Same applies for music/songs as well.

Don't kill me if you think my choices aren't good. Yes, the list doesn't mention any song from the early 50s or the R.D. Burman classics. But my intention of putting up this review is to talk about those songs which I listened to while I was growing up and experiencing times and difficulties, falling in love and out of it.

1) Aye Kash ke hum (Kabhi haan kabhi naa) - The film released sometime in early 1994. At the beginning I was in love with the film because I could relate very much to the character of Sunil. The songs for me had taken a backseat as I never used to think much about them. A year later I realized the songs were pure gems, but there was one of them which stayed with me forever. And there was a personal touch attached to it as I used to think of my crush whenever I listened to it (It was my computer teacher - as usual teachers being the first crush of males) - especially that HON BAS AGAR TUM HAMARE SANAM part reminds me of her even now . A lovely song - and brilliant use of the musical instruments.

2) E Ajnabee (Dil se)- In my previous review on Dil Se album, I had mentioned this one was a favourite from that album. And this one is also one song which can make me forget my work to listen to it, and lose myself in the beauty of it all. Listen to the Paki Paki pardesi part in the beginning of it and no one can stop you then from pressing the stop button or change the FM channel. It works like magic. The movie was a supreme disaster at the box office, but I was surprised why didn't the music save the film.

3) Mitwa (Lagaan) - Just the kind of song you would want to listen to if you want to feel motivated. The best part of it was its simplicity, which never goes overboard yet remains highly inspirational. Rehman did the perfect thing by avoiding usage of too many musical instruments here. Just a song driven by sheer mastery of the composer, Udit Narayan's singing and Javed Akhtar's simple but highly effective https://lyrics. Though the song took time to grow on me, it easily became one of my favourites in later stages.

4) Suno na (Jhankaar beats) - This was instantly likeable when I heard the mukhda for the first time. But I haven't hummed any other song as much as this one. If you don't believe that, listen to the whole of it and you'll realize why it works like magic. Shaan was in top form and it showed in his singing. As of now, I cant think of any better romantic song than this one in recent times.

5) Woh Lamhe (Zeher) - Finally here was a song which so much intensity gone into it whether the music or the singing. I can't tolerate watching Emraan even while he is dancing or lip syncing. But this is one song which just can't make me switch over to any other channel while its playing on one. Words actually fitted in the composition so easily as if they were always made for each other. Listen to it and be mesmerized.

So here was my short review. I knew, it was a bit difficult to shortlist it into top 5, but here's my hard work.

Hope you people like my choices. Especially you, Nandita :)
