The Best of the Best.... Review on Five Best Punjabi Songs

This review is on one of my favorite hobbies in Life-PUNJABI MUSIC. I hope this goes on well.

I have been listening to Punjabi Music for the last five years with utmost dedication. I have made up a decent Collection of about 100 odd Cassettes and 60-70 CD`s and I am very proud of my Punjabi Music Collection.

When I was in a hostel studying for my MBA I used to play Punjabi Music at the loudest Volume one can imagine.

So here it goes.I am hereby giving you all a List of my Favorite Punjabi Songs.

Hope you like it as well.Please bear with me as the Topic is five songs but I am giving a list of my 10 favorite Punjabi Songs.

1. Tera Yaar Bolda by Late Surjit Bindrakhia: This is one song I simply love and can?t live without.not even one day passes when I don?t listen this song, this song has been sung by one of the all time greats of the Punjabi Music World: Surjit Bindrakhia who sadly is no more. Lyrics are by Shamsher Sandhu and Music by Atul Sharma. The lyrics are terrific and the music is fantabulous and has a typical Traditional Punjabi Feel to it.

2. Mirza by Surinder Shinda(Music by Panjabi MC): This song is a traditional song with Mixing by a UK Group called Panjabi MC which has Mundiyan to Bach ke to its credits. The opening lines of the song are terrific, and it has been well sung by Surinder Shinda who is not a very popular singer but a much respected singer. The music of the Song is very haunting and soothing with English Rap Lyrics in between.

3. Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui by B21: This song is now days very popular but this song is 7-8 years old and the music is by B21 and sung by Jassi Siddhu who is also very popular. Actually He was a part of the Group B21 Earlier but now is into a Solo Singing Career. This song has also awesome starting lines. This song is a Fun Song and is a Dance Number and now days played in lots of Discotheques. I also love the lyrics of peppy music of this song.

4. Kala Chashma by Amar Arshi: Amar Arshi is also one of my Favorite Singers and this song is the best when it comes to shake my Leg, this song is particularly very popular these days in all the Discotheques and Clubs across the Country. This song has also English Rap Lyrics in the middle. But this song is an inspiration of an English Song: Phenomenon. But anyways I love this song and like to listen to whenever I am feeling a bit low.

5. Apna Punjab Hove by Gurdas Mann: This song is a legendary Song by one of the Living Legends of the Punjabi Music Industry Gurdas Mann. I heard this song 7-8 years back and I simply loved the song, it has awesome lyrics wherein Traditional Punjabi Life and customs are well defined and one can imagine him or her roaming around in the Sarson ke Khet when listening to this song. The music is very rustic but soothing as well.

6. Preeto da Ghar by Bally Sagoo: This song is not a very popular song and I bet most of you must not have heard ever about this song but if you want to taste the real Flavor of Punjabi Music then this song is a must. This song is from the Very Popular Album ?Aaja Nachle? by Bally Sagoo, this song by two non-descript Punjabi Folk Singers and the voices are very very rustic and I mean it, most of the people would find the voices very hoarse and Besura as they say but I simply love the Rustic feel of this song, this song has also the use of Tumba Instrument and it has been fabulously used by the great Musician Bally Sagoo.

7. Naag by Jazzy B: This song is a really nice Dance Song and very well sung by Jazzy B with music by Sukhshinder Shinda, I also like the Music Video of this song. The music is very peppy and this song also features the use of Tumba. Though the voice of Jazzy B is very peculiar but I like it a lot, the music of Sukhshinder Shinda is very repetitive but this song had some innovative Music and that?s the reason for me including this song in the List.

8. Dupatta Tera Satrang Da by Surjit Bindrakhia: This song made the Great Surjit Bindrakhia very popular when it first came out, most of you don?t know but this song was released in 1987 and became popular in India when the Video came, this song has also the Traditional Feel to it and has is a combination of Bindrakhia(Vocals), Shamsher Sandhu(Lyrics) and Atul Sharma(Music) who have made hundreds of awesome Punjabi Songs.

9. Mittran da Naa Chalda by Harjeet Harman: This song came out in 2004 and became very popular, Harjeet Harman is also a very popular Folk Singer and gave a smashing Hit?302 Ban Jaaoon? in the 90?s. The music is by Atul Sharma and Lyrics by Shamsher Sandhu. This song has also a very traditional feel to it with a contemporary touch and it is very hummable to my ears.

10. Aina Tenoo Pyaar Karaan by Balkar Sidhu: This song is in my list as it has awesome lyrics and has been well sung by Balkar Sidhu, another very Popular Punjabi Singer. The lyrics are very romantic and sweet. This song is a must which one has to sing for his loved one. If translated into English this song means that the way a fish loves water and a Jugnu loves light I love you my beloved.

I hope my list would match to some of the people. I am proud that Punjabi Music is gaining popularity all across the world due to the fabulous work of some individuals like Sukhshinder Shinda, Panjabi MC, Gurdas Mann, Malkit Singh, Bally Sagoo and a host of others. I was simply amazed when the song?Mundiyan to bachke? was played at New York?s Madison Square Garden during NBA Basketball?s All-Star Game last year, I mean in UK and Canada one can imagine Punjabi music but in the US it simply proves that Punjabi Music rocks. for sure.
