Ferrari ki Sewaari is Sharman Joshis best film after 3 idiots and Range De Basanti. An actor whose credibility as an actor was never doubted, but whose stardom definitely was, gets a chance to prove people wrong by carrying an entire film on his shoulders as a solo lead. Well, if this was a challenge, then Sharman apni kasauti par khare utre hain.

The story is a simple story with the backdrop of one of Indias biggest passions-cricket. But the main story is about a father-son-grandfather relationship. Sharman works as a clerk in Worli RTO whose life revolves around his only son whose songle father he is. His son's world revolves only around cricket. While Sharmans father Boman Irani is against the game as he could never really make it big thanks to his childhood friend Paresh Rawal who is now the BCCI chief. Sharmans son gets a chance of a lifetime to get coached at Lords Cricket Stadium, a chance which will change his life forvever. But for that he needs moolah. Sharman comes across an offer from a marriage planner where if he arranges for a Ferrari for a local thug politicians sons marriage for a short time, he will get the required money. The rest of the movie is about the confusions, problems which arrise thereafter.

There have been many movies about father son bonding like Masoon, Akele Hum Akele Tum etc. These movies have been appreciated in their own right, but what makes this movie unique and heartwarming is the manner in which the characters have been written. While at times Sharmans character seems too good to be true, you really connect with him especially in the scenes with his son. Sharman Joshi brings alive his character of a single father who can subtly do anything for his son. He is one actor who has never really got his due except for when he acts with AAMIR KHAN(e.g. Range De Basanti, 3 Idiots). The actor who plays Sharmans son is very natural and confident. Boman Irani as the foul mouthed grandfather looks so real that one should be surprised if he manages to win the best supporting actor trophy next year. Watch him in the scene with Paresh Rawal, he is simply brilliant. His scenes with Sharman too bring out required amount of laughter and emotions.

The film is ably supported by a supporting cast of quite non-famous faces. In fact, the film wouldn't be even half of what it is without the performances and the characterisation by Raju Hirani. Yesteryear baddie Deepak Shirke is also too good and makes you laugh whenever he is on-screen. Vidyas item number is very well choreographed and Vidya looks every bit the Marathi mulgi. The other songs are decent too and so is the background score which enhances the scenes even more.

Raju's dialogues also are very well written. New Director Raju Mapuskar has a definite influence of Hirani especially in the way he handles the emotional scenes. But he still manages to create his own identity and one looks forward to many more independent and non-independent(non Vidhu Vinod Chopra) movies from him. There are some scenes which are over the top especially the way in which Sachins Ferrari is stolen and the scenes which involve searching for the Ferrari by Deepak Shirke and gang. But a few glitches here and there doesnt matter at all, especially when everything else makes a lot of impact.

Overall, Ferrari ki Sawaari is a great, entertaining family watch worth your multiplex ticket price. It is a clean, unsophisticated, non-pretentious family watch with no slapstick humour, unnecessary scenes(especially a romantic angle) etc. Watch it at any cost. 4 stars from me.
