My friend Isar, well known trainer in the country was looking for a punch line in his signature. I was trying to help him and then I have noticed that his blood group is B Positive. There lies a punch line " B POSITIVE - IT'S IN MY BLOOD" - vowww, What an Idea Sirjeee -----! He told me "If this came to you naturally, then you should write more". Frankly, this was the only push I got sofar to venture into reviews.
If Isar could find creativity in me - I was just comparing myself against some one - "Farhan" -Yes, it is in his blood ---- Born to Javed Akhtar and well known script writer Honey Irani - definitely it is in his blood. And his grand father Jaan Nissar Akhtar - famous Urudu Poet - (I have written a full review on his lyrics in the movie Razia Sultan) -- so, it is in his blood and genes!
I dont want to write more about his personal life - but his releavnce in the industry is what is more relevant.
Dil Chahta Hai -I remember watching this movie in Padma Theatre, Cochin when I was working with Apollo Tyres. The moment I came out of the theatre, I feel like sharing my feeling with each and every one I came across. That much the movie impressed me - The first male bonding movie in the history of Indian Cinema - well scripted sequences - importance given to all three heros - introduction of Shankar - Ehsaan - Loy ---- I think I can watch this movie with out slightest boredom at any point of time. Isar my friend had used the clipping from this movie in his training modules - especially regarding communication ---- It was a movie that blends music, comedy, merry making, emotions all blended in the right quantiy.
I have almost believed that now Farhan will become another Karan Johar and will come up with similar movies with the same set of actors. But here lies the difference between Farhan and other succesful directors.
He never repeated the protoganists and his theme was always different.
Lakshya - starring Hritik and Amitab Bachan (well he repeated the heroine --- errr --- Preity was heroine of DCH or Dimple Kapadia ------ ) - It was not about patriotism but it has got a strong element of patriotism, relaistic capture of defence technology, how an irresponsible lad became responsible in life ---- very different theme.
Don - he casted Shahrukh ---- Again he surprised us as we never thought he will venture into a remake type venture. Frankly this movie didnot thrilled me like the previous movie but still the Farhan touch of surprise and his craftsmanship is evident in this movie also.
And now - he surprised all of us by becoming an actor, singer ----- Rock On !!!!
What more to say - he is a magician who is so unpredictable and will come up with anything. And he is so flexible like water which will take the shape of the container - whether it be the judge of Nach Baliye - or as a director, as a singer, actor ----
But he was a terrible failure as a producer (Honeymoon travels -bla bla ) ----- Ok please do not venture into too much of activities at a time.
I am sure - the best from Farhan is yet to come as he always believe in refining himself and come up with surprise packages. Long way to go!
