Watch only the 1st half. Review on Fanaa

Dont know why my last review on Bluffmaster did not get rated. Still here is my next review on Fanaa.

Story -

Fanaa is the story about a blind Kashmiri girl Zooni(Kajol) whose mother(Kirron Kher), wants her to fall in love with someone despite her handicap. Zooni and her friends now have to go to Delhi for a Republic Day function where they will be performing a dance sequence. At the railway station, Zoonis mother asks the other group members to take care of her. On reaching Delhi, they meet a tourist guide Rehan Khan(Amir Khan). Rehan, gets to know that Zooni is blind and now Rehan, starts feeling for her. Despite her blindness, Rehan takes Zooni for sight-seeing in Delhi and makes her see Delhi from her "mann ki aankh". Zooni, also falls in love with Rehan and says the lines her mother had said to say to someone she fell in love with. Zooni says those lines and now Rehan wants to do something for her to cure her blindness. Next day, Rehan gets Zooni admitted in a eye hospital and himself goes off somewhere. Zoonis parents, her mother and her father Zulfiqar Ali Khan(Rishi Kapoor) also arrive to meet Zooni.

Zoonis eyes are now fine and she can see the world. Zooni sees her parents first and then asks about Rehan. She had knit a sweater for Rehan and from the hospital, she gets to know that Rehan had died and she sees that sweater besides a dead body. Now the real Rehan comes out and we get to know that Rehan was a terrorist who had gone to Delhi to bomb the Red Fort and was living as a tourist guide in disguise. Rehan, was asked to do the bombings in Delhi by his Nana ji. A anti-terrorist squad headed by Tabu is formed to catch Rehan.

7 years go by and now Rehan becomes Ranjeev Singh and a major in the Indian Army. His mission in joining the Indian Army is to get hold of the Trigger and give it to his Nana ji. Rehan and the members of the crew with the trigger all get aboard a helicopter. Rehan gets hold of the trigger and jumps off from the helicopter using a parachute and bombs the helicopter on his way down. The Indian Army, now get to know that he was a terrorist in diguise of a major and they get after him. Rehan, gets injured badly and bangs into Zoonis house. Zooni opens the door and shouts "Rehan". This new Rehan happens to be Amir Khans and Kajos son who is also named as Rehan. Kajol helps Rehan in getting cured. Some days go by and now Zooni recoginises Rehan and gets to know that he was the same Rehan who was on a mission. After some days, Zoonis father, Zulfiqar Ali Khan watches news where information about Rehan and the trigger is given. Zulfiqar, searches Rehans bag and finds the trigger with him.

Zooni, after getting to know that he is her Rehan, does not want him to go anywhere. And Zulfiqar, tries to get more information about Rehan from the Indian Army so that he could get him caught. Now the climax of the film starts and the film gets to end in such a way that Rehan dies at the end of the film.

Performances -

Amir Khan as Rehan Khan - Amir, doesnt deliver that good a performance after his superb performance in Rang de Basanti and looks like ageing in this film. Also, Amir Khan plays a neagtive role in the film as that of a terrorist who never has a change of heart and doesnt accept his crimes. But still his acting in the 1st half was great, and it was poor in the 2nd half which decreases his rating.

Kajol as Zooni - Kajol, delivers a superb performance and has shown that she can still act. Although her acting saves the film, but still she could have had a better comeback film than this. The chemistry and also physics and biology between Amir and Kajol was good and cant understand why this pairing did not come earlier.

Rishi Kapoor as Zulfiqar Ali Khan - Rishi Kapoor, plays Kajols on-screen father for the 2nd time and does not have a big role to play in the film which revolves around Amir and Kajol. Rishi Kapoor, still impresses in his role.

Overall Description -

The film Fanaa, glorifies terrorism by showing that Rehan, does not have a change of heart and neither does he accept his crimes and hands himself over to the Indian Army. Rehan, despite being stopped by Zooni, still wants to hand over the trigger to his Nana ji. The film is good enough to watch only in the 1st half and the 2nd half is very poor. Kajol, could have had a better comeback film than this and only Kajols acting turns out to be the only saving grace for this film. This film can be watches by only diehard Kajol and Amir fan. Amir Khans peformance in this film is only a poor shadow of his peformance of Rang de Basanti.

I would give this film a rating of 4.5 out of 5 in the 1st half and that of a 1 out of 5 in the 2nd half making an average rating of 2.75.
