THIS IS UNFAIR. Review on Fair & Lovely Cream

I have always been fascinated by fairness. I guess I am conditioned that way.Flashback................

First comment:''Gori Hai kya?''

(IS SHE FAIR?)

Mummy, I fail to understand why do people want to know the colour of my skin and not whether I am a healthy child ?.Would it make any difference in their attitude if I were fair. Probably yes ....

October 2002, Mumbai university:- Girls auditioning for 'Macbeth' by Shakespeare .

Consensus:- This girl will suit the witch's role better. Lady Macbeth has to be fair. And believe it or not, the same witch mouths dialogues like,

''Fair is foul and foul is fair''

April 2003,Home:- Perusing the sunday matrimonial column Times of India.( Succumbed to the pressure ,courtesy Oh so concerned neighbours who are actually more concerned about me tying the knot rather than their own daughters and sons)

Didn't find a suitable match. Actually I failed to meet the most important criterion. Fairness !. Very happy actually can remain ''husbandless'' for some more years.

April 2003, Office:- It's so strange But this obsession for fairness has reached its zenith. What with the Media reinforcing the belief that ''fair is beautiful''? (All thanks to advertisements like a girl changing her kundli(fate) after using Fair and Lovely or getting a plum job and treating her father to a cup of coffee at a plush hotel)

Now a true confession:- I was enamoured of these ads and the beautiful models changing their destiny in a matter of seconds as if a magician had waved the wand and bestowed these girls with Beauty, Love , and of course fairness.But enough of this nonsense.This is a warning to all those who feel that using a fairness cream will change your complexion in any way , it's time for a serious rethinking. It will not make an iota of difference to your skin. trust me on this one.

Does it sound like ''Grapes are sour'' kind of syndrome.Even as I write this I am not ashamed of the fact that I have used such a down market cream like fair and lovely.Yes it is targeting the lower segment of the society but why fool people . HLL claims that ''Fair & Lovely's formulation contains a unique fairness system that contains a combination of active agents and sunscreens. This has been specially designed and proven to deliver one to three shades of change in most people. Also its sunscreen system is specially optimised for Indian skin. Indian skin unlike Caucasian skin tends to 'tan' rather than 'burn' and, hence, requires a different combination of UV A & UV B sunscreens''.If that's the case why not promote it as a sun block cream rather than a whitening cream.(NO PERSONAL VENDETTA HERE AGAINST HLL)

I wouldn't even recommend Fair and lovely as a feet softening cream.Fair and lovely soap, cold cream , eye cream, lotion, cream with a hint of ayurveda ''WHAT NEXT ? Fair and lovely hair cream''For all those wannabe Richard geres and Nafisa Alis use fair and lovely hair cream''

Some points worth pondering over:-

1.people who use Fair and lovely as a make up base may use Vicco turmeric or some other foundation. Washing your face with Besan and milk could be a better option.Doesn't make you fair but improves the texture.

2.Don't get enticed by the ads. Those people are paid mega bucks for fooling people. Trust your gut feeling

3.Be proud of yourself. For the person you are. Sexuality or beauty is skin deep. Comes from within( I know it's Hackneyed, But my write up is indeed DIFFERENT....)

What a dunce I was for believing that Fair and lovely would not be a chimera but a dream come true. Yeah a dream has come true ,

''I have discovered a new person within myself who thinks that she is beautiful because her parents and friends love her and because she no longer kills time gazing at the mirror. ''

THANKS A LOT FAIR AND LOVELY ! I HAVE ACTUALLY BECOME A NARCISSIST AFTER I TRULY DISCOVERED MYSELF
