All this while I was under the impression that I am the only Idiot in the world to go and buy a Rivera unit from Aquaguard. How wrong. By seeing all other hapless souls who shelled out around 12~13K on this product, I am getting a feel that this is the most sophisticated con job around.


It would seem very funny for an outsider, the way all of us who brought this product, run around to get quality service. In fact it has all the ingredients for a Priyadarshan movie.


It all started when I convinced myself that this product is the best in the world. A sure shot solution for all the health problems in the house (of course, the sales guy did help me in getting convinced). without seeing the demo or the actual product, I paid the sales guy a check. The trouble started from the next week.


I was promised a delivery within 1 week. After 2 weeks I was franatically calling the sales guy. He said the manager will help. The manager said the Regional Manager will help. Finally I have to use the choicest of the abuse in English, Hindi, and other south Indian language to get the RM to move his butt. And, I got it finally after 2 weeks. The sales called and congratulated. (I was told that I am the only guy to get this product in less than 2 weeks-I am not sure this was a compliment)


I should have understood this is just the beginning. After 7 months, one early morning, my wife woke me up and said " Aquaguard is not working". Again back to the same routine of calling up, from top to bottom, tried to be Gandhi, but ended up as veerapan. Abuse and more abuse. finally after three days one service engineer turns-up. Without even a screwdriver. again back to the old track. Called up all those who work there. After 2 more days somebody lands up and changed the whole RO filter and things start to work.


The guy, while departing even made me buy an AMC. Best part is the free service for reviva. Its every three months. In the last 3 years I have three visits from the service engineer, after the usual song and dance seequence.


Moral of the story: Buy an Aquaguard, and you are putting your head into the lion's mouth.
