Ek Ajnabee tells us the story of a retired Army Colonel Suryaveer Singh (Amitabh Bachchan) who is on the brink of self destruction. During a mission in the Kashmir Valley, Suryaveer accidentally shoots dead two children and the shock of killing innocent lives make him an alcoholic. Now he is running away from his traumatic past.
Suryaveer is called to Bangkok by Shekhar (Arjun Rampal). Shekhar is the owner of a security firm who used to work with Suryaveer in Army. In order to get his life back on track, Shekhar assign him the task of protecting a child in Bangkok named Anamika.
Anamika is the only child of a millionaire couple (Vikram Chatwal and Perizaad Zorabian). Her parents want to ensure her security because of rise in instances of kidnappings. Initially, for Suryaveer it is just the job of a bodyguard. But the innocence of the little girl mellows him and brings moments of happiness into his otherwise grim life.
When the things appear ultra fine, just then, kidnappers attack Suryaveer when he is taking Anamika to music classes. He gets injured and kidnappers kidnap Anamika. Kidnappers demand 1 million US dollars from her parents but things go wrong when a few gang members gets shot by the police at the time of delivering the ransom.
This angers the head of the gang (Raj Zutshi) and he kills Anamika.
The girl’s parents are shattered and Suryaveer’s silence is like an ugly moan before the storm. Suryaveer swears vengance and starts up his own investigation with Shekhar and Kripashanker (Dayashanker Pandey) - an Indian in Bankok who has a massage parlor. Slowly he learns about all the skeletons in the closet and that everything is not really what it seems to be…
This movie brings forth the kidnapping industry that is very prominent in Thailand. Also it shows Amitabh Bachchan in the central role after a very long time. He is looking like a true avenging hero of today’s times. Baby Rucha is simply adorable. She very much looks like a spoilt child but with a heart of gold. She puts enormous contribution to the first half where one likes to keep on watching the growing bonding between Bachchan and Rucha. The movie draws to intermission with the kidnapping. The second half off the movie is strictly passable for the movie is left with Big B chasing the bad guys and all. Also after Rucha’s kidnapping there is not a strong contender left in the movie to make up with Big B.
