Have Fun, Be Comfortable

DISCLAIMER:  I am writing this review under the impression that they mean Dressing out for a Club, since pubs are merely eating establishments that are cozy and usually have a bar and full table service for alcohol and do not require any dress code of any kind.  Having said this, please read the following tips closely.  Rhea is not responsible for anything that happens to said clothes before, during, or after the time of visiting the club.  Thank you and enjoy the review.

~

In Canada, the legal age for drinking is 19, so clubs are only open to those 19 and older.  I have been attending clubs since the day I turned 19, and I consider myself an expert on dressing to go out to a club.  I am not a walking billboard for Gucci, but I do have reasonable fashion sense, and I have seen many people who make my head shake in amazement(of stupidity!).

Dress for the weather.  Here in Vancouver, the weather is unpredictable.  It might rain, it might snow, it might be blazing hot!  You never know.  But I have seen people(mostly girls) standing in the line freezing their butts off because they chose to wear a backless, sleeveless, stomachless top(ok, a bandana stretched across their chest and taped under their arms) and a skirt that skims the hip bone and the highest part of their thighs in below freezing temperatures.  I was softly cackling behind them, warm and cozy in my ankle length skirt and turtleneck.  Girls and guys alike, please turn to the weather channel(or look at the sky!) and see what kind of weather you will be dressing for.

Dress classy, girls!  I am not talking about wearing full-skirted ball gowns.  I just mean that you don't have to dress like a street-walker to go to a club.  Wear clothes that leave a little to the imagination.  You don't have to be covered from head to toe, but do look respectable.  This isn't just for the benefit not offending my delicate sensibilities(hehe), but also for the benefit of meeting nice guys.  If you dress like a street-walker, guess what you will be treated as?  If you dress like a lady, guess what you will be treated as?  Get the hint.

Dress for your size.  This is for boys and girls of all ages.  If you are really thin, do not wear baggy clothing that looks like a tent.  If you are large, do not wear clothing that accentuates your trouble areas.  This is just common sense, but I have to mention it because it seems that not so many people know it.

Shoes will make or break your ankle.I mean, night.  I am a firm believer that style should out-shine comfort, but when it comes to injuries resulting in the wrong shoes, I am the expert.  I used to wear very high-heeled sandals to clubs to look trendy(when it was the style), up until a snowy night when I went trekking back to my car and slipped on a patch of ice.  Luckily, a really hot guy caught me and then walked me back to my car.hey, scratch this one.  Wear uncomfortable shoes, you might catch a prince charming(KIDDING!).  I now wear either sandles with a little heel or low platforms, but both have to have a lot of grip.  Your feet have to withstand at least 6 hours of dancing, having your feet stepped on, walking, and standing(since our clubs open at 9 and close at 2am, or 4 in downtown Vancouver).  Wear comfortable shoes and it will be easier to last the entire night(granted, this tip does not cover overly sloshed boys and girls, even if they wear comfortable shoes).

Accessories and other tidbits.  A club is not a place for a purse the size of a suitcase that fits everything and the kitchen sink.  Go to a cheap store and buy a tiny purse big enough to fit your ID, some cash, your phone, and lipstick.  You do not need your makeup bag at this time, as you should have made up your face before you left home.

If you have heavy or long hair, bring something to tie your hair up off your neck when the room has become hot and stuffy.

If you follow the above tips, said at the expense of offending three-quarters of the girls that attend clubs in my area, you will have a great time at your club of choice.  Just remember to dress nicely, dress comfortably, and wear a really good anti-perspirant(not mentioned above, but I am begging you).  And.

IF YOU DRINK, DON'T DRIVE.
