Beauty Pageants. Full of tall, skinny yet curvy, hidden by make-up Barbies or large, muscular, pelvan type Kens. Yet, so many yearn to see these'dolled-up' people, we actually get entertainment from them. Either we're enjoying watching these fake people displaying themselves barely clothed, or we just get satisfaction in seeing these people making complete fools of themselves. Or, we are that rare kind, who is disgusted by the cheapness of international beauty contests.

Beauty contests are everywhere. They stretch from towns, to cities, to counties, to states, to countries and finally to the globe. Obviously those'smaller' and less'significant' beauty contests which occur in small towns and/or villages probably have less baring of the flesh involved, less make-up and less showy dresses, especially in India. However, as the audiences of the contests increase, the make up proportionally increases, and the length of clothes decrease.

You may decide to call this a stereotype, however I have proof. I'm sure, most people reading this review will have seen at least one beauty contest on television, particularly the world renowned ones, such as Miss India, Miss World or even Miss Universe. Do we not see the gradual change from national costumes, to those which the rest of the world wears. Does the Miss World category not involve a session in swimwear, where every participant, whether from England or India has to display herself in either a full length or bikini to the rest of the world. Even in the less well-known Mr World competition, there is a swimwear category, full of mean showing their six-packs and muscles.

So how are beauty contests bringing out the beauty of a person, by making them wear skimpy clothing, a tonne of make-up and showing them off to the world?

Respect: Self-respect. Everyone needs this to make him or her both a happy and prospering individual. With participating in a beauty contest, particularly ones exposed to the media, comes a decrease in your self-respect, or even a loss. How much of your respect do you have left with people looking at every curve or every muscle of your body and gawping? What respect is there in people liking you just for your face or your body? The answer is none. The finality is that beauty contests are just materialistic, looking at nothing apart from your exterior. So where’s the chance to show off your inner beauty?

Naturalness: Do beauty contests really show your natural self? Oh yes, because people really go out in long flowing gowns, or penguin suits to buy some bread don't they? People really cover themselves in artificial make-up just to travel to a friend’s house don't they?(Oh wait, maybe if it’s a special friend!:)!) My point is that beauty pageants just display a bunch of fake men and women, who are just trying to look good for the camera or the audience. Nobody can see your beautiful self when you have just got out of bed with huge bags under your eyes, and hair the size of the Himalayas, however, this is your natural self, which shows the true beauty of your life. This is what people deserve to see, not you trying to look like a Barbie doll. Because with this comes a phrase.'The person with the most make up wins!' Actually, that would be quite interesting.every time they walk a puff of powder emerges from their dresses.but back to the point!

Personality: Well there are quite blatantly the talents and questioning parts of beauty contests.don't they show off your inner beauty? Admittedly, the talent part is probably the most sensible section of the contest, as participants have the chance to show off the talents they have. But is this their beauty? No. This is showing their skills off, however, where is the beauty of their heart, their kindness, their love? This is supposed to be shown in the questioning section. But obviously, to win, competitors would just express what they think the judges would like to hear, possibly not what they really think. So how can we know that this is the real beauty of the person? Here is a typical scenario…

Questioner: What is your one sole wish?

Competitor: World Peace.

Questioner: Anything else?

Competitor: No, just world peace.

Who in the world would just desire world peace? No offence but we are a very selfish and greedy race…I would personally like prices to be made cheaper or rather, no prices at all, or homework to be abolished, whatever. I would like world peace, but it would come after all of those. Most competitors make themselves out to be selfless little angels, but they are most probably not. So how do beauty contests display beauty, if they make people fake, deceitful and half-naked?

Generally, the only type of people who enter beauty contests are not those who want the world to be a better place, but attention seeking, materialistic people. If you have entered a beauty contest and know you are not, then I apologise, and shake your hand for being such a great person. However, in my review it has been proven that beauty contests do not bring out the beauty of a person, neither interior, nor exterior. This is my opinion, and there is a case saying beauty contests do bring out your beauty.

For those of you who love to watch those dolls dressing up(or rather down) and modelling for you, try to put yourself in their shoes and walk a mile and then you’ll be a mile away from them and you'll have their shoes! But seriously, you wouldn’t like to have people gawping at you would you? And if you do then…well…no comment!

Therefore, finally, beauty contests do not bring out your true beauty, just your fake one!

Thanks for reading! Please RRC…and show your beauty!(how lame does that sound?)
